I once met this pretty girl in Australia, and we got along just fine over a few dates so we were heading for a relationship until I visited her house… cats everywhere! I counted about six in the living room but there must’ve been more in other rooms probably having a siesta!

The next day I told her on the phone that I wanted out because I can only handle one or two animals per household…

Deniz, I can tell you for a fact that brits put their cats out on the street when they return to the uk for holidays, then they complain that they get poisoned.

The fact remains that they are killed by poison anyway. Normally cats can survive in Cyprus - without the poisonings - if there is a garden.

They should be prosecuted for 'abandonement'.

Yes normally WILD cats can survive. Home cats cannot because they get lazy. For example:

Have you ever seen a cat walked around the block with a walking string? Nope only home cats can do that. I use to walk by a shop and there was persian cat always sleeping on the same spot at the window. For 3 months I thought it was fake until it moved :S.

Most cars in Cyprus are homeless and eat out of the garbages. Its not like in some european countries where homeless cats are killed. In Hungary where I live I have never seen a cat on the street for 2 years now :/. Always wondered why until I asked my gf.

Now about the dogs. Well YES this people should be punished. There is people who actually babysit this animals while your gone.

There were a couple of articles in the Cyprus Mail last year about British ex-pats in the RoC packing up, returning to the UK and abandoning their pets!

Unfortunately, since the Cyprus Mail upgraded it's web-site, I can't find a bloody thing when searching for an article!

From the way they broadcast the news, LBC made it sound as fresh news because a journalist was 'reporting live' from Cyprus.
