Apostolides v Orams Judgment Day ?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Why take 6 months out of anyone's life to live in a place just to get their rights?
Sounds like a barrier to justice, particularly for those with responsibilities and jobs in the North or UK, or Australia etc. and what confidence the property will be released?

How about you take a gamble and place down as your wager a loss of 6 months pay, spend 6 months rent and board to live around people that deny you your rights, for the chance, not the guarantee that you will be able to get your property back?!

That is known as a barrier to justice.

That’s to stop criminal Turkish Cypriots (and it’s not like we haven’t got enough of them already eh?) from easily cashing in while holding the properties of Greek Cypriots hostage!

After all, the Turkish Cypriots are the ones aiding and abetting the Turkish invader & occupier, are they not?

No, but accompanied by all the paperwork, identity proof and checks on rightful inheritance from deaths etc., might do.

It would be foolish not to carry out checks. There are laws and regulations you know, and the RoC ones have been approved!

You're already on file Mr Swimming Pools! You were an easy one...

Don’t worry, a European arrest warrant can quickly get you out… because you can run but you can’t hide!

I was referring to you getting out of the TRNC, old lad.
EU arrest warrants don't work up here either.

What is 6 months when Mr Apostolides (and many, many others) have had to live away from their homes for more than 35 years?

The British cheapskates have received a very clear message .
If any one still doubts the benefits of Cyprus's European membership then the clearly they don't know what they are talking about .
I'm pleased that I was able to attend and also meet Gerry and Bill as well as Mr and Mrs Apostolides and Mr Kandounas.
Remember folks , this is NOT a victory against out compatriots the T/Cs , it is however a massive defeat of the CHEAPSKATES and those acting illegally.

No surprises for me at today’s judgment, and certainly no surprises at your appearance in court! Didn’t I say you’ll go looking like John Steed? Image

Hi GR. The Orams case is finally over - one hopes. It was this case that brought us pen-to-pen (face to face) four years ago on the other forum.
You won my friend.

I believe justice has won. What this will mean to the average TC in the north god only knows. I hope we can all learn our lesson and pay more respect to justice, law and order.

Congratulations to ALL Cypriots...................

My only surprise is all the pussyfooting that was being allowed by European courts when these guys should’ve been nailed from the very first appearance in a straightforward HR case! It would’ve saved them bundles of wasted money too!

Now what? :?

One day at a time sweet Jesus... la la la la la la

You and the rest of the cheapskates ought to be arrested for entering Cyprus via unrecognized ports of entry .
This monumental decision has manifested it self as a result of the rule of law justice and fairness , not based on greedy cheapskates needs and selfish wants.

The six months is a safeguard against impostors. You don't want the RoC to give out your property to any desperado claiming to be you, now do you?

If I might ask, how does living somewhere prove one is an imposter or not? That is, unless you were being facetious...

I can see why you are in the mess you are in.

Do you expect the RoC to just hand the property over to anyone who asks for it then? ... No checks on paperwork, records, past deaths and inheritors and their wills?

Six months is a pretty standard conveyancing time considering how many checks have to be made and the implications from getting it wrong.

No checks on paperwork, records, past deaths and inheritors and their wills?
I can see why these checks would need to be made, but does the person have to be there whilst they are being carried out? I don't think so. Smacks of intimidation to me.
