The first commemoration ceremony for Dr. Fazil Kucuk was held by the side of his mausoleum at Anittepe this morning.
The ceremony started with the laying of wreaths at the Mausoleum, which was followed by a minute’s silence, singing of the national anthem and the hoisting and lowering of the flags to half-mast.

Praising the late leader for his contributions for the establishment of a secular and democratic order, the President said that Dr Kucuk had made important contributions to the TC People in establishing their own state.
Pointing out that the struggle waged for political equality is still continuing, Mr Talat said `today, we are conducting negotiations to bring a comprehensive solution to the Cyprus problem. We are continuing the talks in line with the struggle and thoughts defended by Doctor Kucuk. No one should have any doubt on this`
Stressing that the main objective is to secure the future and rights of the TC people, he said `we are trying to bring an agreement that will prevent the repetition of the troubled experiences by the TC's before 1974`.
