New Laptop

Postby DANGAMAN » Fri Jan 15, 2010 11:57 am

I am thinking of buying a new laptop from UK or CY around the 700 Euro price range.

Generaly want it for home. must be 4GB ram, HDMI with a decent webcam with windows 7 and all the other specs that come with it. :D

Any ideas of what are good choices brands and models?

Thanks.

I know that there are some people on this forumwith great computer knowlege.

What should I be looking at when buying a new laptop from CY or UK?

Thanks - Please keep the terminology simple for us non hi-tech users

Thanks again

You mentioned that you generaly want it for home. Having a top of the bill machine is nice but expensive, but you should really first figure out what you are going to use it for. Example....are you going to use it for gaming and graphics....or just simple internet acces and some word processing? People have a tence to buy overkill machines where only 15% of the resources of the machine is used....a waste of money if you ask me

There are many good systems for a good price in the market and if you know what you are going to do with the machine it might save you a couple of 100 euro's.

Games = XBox, PC or PS3 not Laptop.

I have a Sony Vaio, tidy machine, but a little over priced really.

Acer's are ok, Toshiba are decent, HP are good.

HP is good they have great driver support also for all platforms and 32 and 64bit versions also sony vaio is very reliable imo. i would stay away fro, acer they are not reliable . i had three all broke after a year and i am a very carefull user.

but z4 is right i would look to the uk you would get a better deal and better specs for less.

I'm a DELL fan myself and the reason is that I have a next day onside warranty on it when it breaks down. And they do come the next day....has been tested  But that's for the Netherlands. Now for Cyprus that would be different I geuss. You still did not clarify what you're going to use the machine for. Do you want a compact machine? Are you going to travel with it or is it just for simple home usage and size does not matter?

Go to www.hotukdeals.com and see if you find anything there of interest.... check it regularly as there are some amazing deals to be found.....thats assuming somebody in the UK can grab it and send it to you.
