having read the posts of both GCs and TCs on this forum. i think it is safe to assume GCs want their properties back and turkey out of Cyprus land. While TCs dont want to be a minority, want greater say in the political arena and security.

The only non cypriot player in this triangle of problems is turkey. so why cant cypriots come to a compromise. for starters why dont GCs make laws that entitles TCs as well as other minorities in the Roc to earn slighty more than GC. in every ministry there should be a qouta for TC/minorities employment. Tc used to be around 18% and they are less now. i live in kyrenia and as a teacher here said for a class of 30 kids only 2 max 4 are cypriots rest are settlers. if the GC make is more favorable for TC to move into Rocy Turkey would not have a reason to play her end game of occupying cyprus. GC make laws stipulating grave penalaties for discrimination against a TC. give em free medicals. treat em like a baby so the evil step mother leaves ur land. i personally think a rotating presidency/vice and enough incentives such as allowing them to come back to thee properties if put to referendum with only pre 74 TC voting will result in a overwhelming support of unification. present them with all their requests but insist that only true cypriots vote and boom this is all over. the key is force real TCs to have to part ways with settlers to get all their dreams

sharing the island is not what the turks had in mind when they came to cyprus killing 20,000 gcs and then when they caused more problems to split the land in two and they continue to occupy and demand more and more rights then the majority not just equal rights but more rights


plus the tcs already have lots of rights in the south and advantages such as getting goverment jobs easier then gcs given free health care and id cards to mvoe around europe. maybe they should do more steps as you say but im sure they willl..

meanwhile the turks sipt at us and we give them more..

but to re unite under one state the bad economy in the north we would be the one picking up the pieces its in our intrests to help the north the economy.

but the turks should learn to give a little aswell its not all take

That's the fastest way to make everyone claim to be a "TC"! As a teacher you should know better than to encourage racial discrimination!

As for the rest of your comments... I don't think you realize why Turkey is here and it's got nothing to do with the TC minority, they're just the pitiful excuse!

20,000? Where did you get that figure?

when the turks arrived in cyprus they killed 20,000..

i got it from history of cyprus lesson. ( taught by an australien ) books studying the subject. since i was not alive during or before the war and dont talk about it with family what it was like.

study it up on the net to you will see it.. after they arrived in cyprus what they did just because they where happy.

you are missing the point. its not about sharing the island with Turks. its about taking Tcs out on a date. treat her like a queen, even if you dont want to. that way the bossy step mother will have to give you back your properties. while the loss of lives is really sad. bringing that up hurts GC bid to get their land back. face it if TCs are made to feel like they matter its a win win for all cypriots. too much properties over here in the north that are for GC. the ones who will be left pennyless and out of place are settlers. turkey knows this and is trying to make Tc and GC never come to an agreament hence the unreasonable demands. make it impossible for Turkey and settlers to stay here. present Tc with proposals that Highly favour TC but are exclusive of settlers. lets see if eroglu even with all the support he has now wont loose if he is willing to sacrifice cypriots for hes backers -Turkey's settlers

gcs have been giving tcs everything rights to move back to their home treatment jobs everything while the turks spit in our face and demand more... if we treat tcs like queens as you put it they will say f u and demand more.. no matter how much we GIVE it does not mean they will do the same as tassos knew all along and people judged him.
