Turkey's Proposals

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I've got one from the free part of Cyprus.

We propose that we prevent your poor wife being widowed and your poor children being orphaned in case you need emergency medical treatment in the free areas. And it's they who have to reject it not you.

You know, even though I still think partition is the best option, I proposed a unitary state solution as a theoretical thought (based on the possibility that the TRNC and Turkey would come to a conclusion that recognition or federation is impossible). It actually got supporting replies. It's on the "expat split" thread. What would you think - theoretically of course - of such an option with the points I proposed? If partition was impossible, as well as annexation, federation, or confederation, is this "plan" of mine feasible?

Sorry,DT,I just noticed this thread...

Some time ago I would've said "typical AKP mentality, they just behave as if they are horse-trading"...But this new Foreign minister,Ahmet Davutoglu, seems to be a really clever, on-the -ball type...He must know that the free access to Turkish citizens stuff would never be accepted...I think he is practising "Shock and Awe" tactics...The expectation is the GC will be so shocked they will give concessions elsewhere where it really matters...There is no other explanation... :?

Stay calm...Make equally unacceptable proposals regarding the Turkish-TC red lines (all Turkish soldiers must leave,No guarantee,No TC political majority guarantee etc) and chip away slowly...It is now obvious no solution will be found during Talat's time...So Christofias can take his time and work at getting the best deal he can (least number of settlers allowed, maximum number of refugee return, favourable land adjustment etc) before accepting a compromise solution the TCs/Turkey can live with...But a solution must be agreed to DT...Before too long...ERdogan is not going anywhere(well he will become the next President) in a hurry, and he has no desire really to join the EU...forget the EU pressure hopes, get the best deal you can and sign the deal...Otherwise all Cypriots will loose big time...

I don't think anyone will blame the Greek Cypriots for rejecting Turkey's stupid proposals. I'm afraid the international community knows Turkey's games only too well. It's been explained to them many times. Turkey is behaving exactly like it's expected to.

In the meantime I would worry more about how Talat getting booted out on his arse in the coming "election" will look like abroad. Putting in a hard-line TMT man might satisfy the Grey Wolves but I doubt he'll play well outside of the enclave. Still, chin up...

You will need a stiff drink as things pan out, with Davutoğlu in the UK things appear to be heating up as Ban voices support things are about to come to a head, the papers all over the world are full of the GC rejection yet again, the Turks play this game well and will now capatilize on it with international diplomacy showing that GCs do not want a solution the proof being they reject everything out before them...go ahead play right into their hands it will suit them down to the ground.

So you think Cyprus will get a slap on the hand do you and you’ll get recognition?

Turkish Cypriot mentality at its best! It goes to show what pieces of shit you really are…

Not recognition, no one expects that but a relaxation of the isolation is definately on the cards, keep up the good work rejecting everythign in sight.

You’re incorrigible… how many times do we have to go through the technical impossibilities of all that for you to believe it?

The British govt, even (unashamedly) made a special announcement one or two years ago, regretting that they couldn’t support direct flights because there was no loophole!

It doesn't get any lower than that!

One more 'no' from you and we are on our way to becoming either the next Kosovo, Taiwan or Iskenderun. And if you say 'yes' now you know what it will be to  Face it, you have nowhere to go but down.

What are we saying "no" to?

You make a very big assumption that a blueprint will be agreed to and will go to referendum. Even if there is a blueprint and we say "no", the "trnc" will not achieve recognition since it is nothing more than stolen and ethnically cleansed land.

You don't have a leg to stand on I'm afraid.

One more “no” to what… Turkey’s blackmail?

“Reject our offer to legally annihilate you from Cyprus through Turkification, or we’ll illegally annihilate you from Cyprus through Turkification!”

Do you still not realize your stupidity?
