Thank you for your replies. I will be residing there. My car is a Renault Magane Convertible 1598cc petrol manual, if I can't find a way around it then I will put it up for sale here.

Nice car Ms Annabella, fingers crossed you'll be able to bring it... :)

If the car is owned by a lending institution shouldn't you be asking them instead of us?

Hello Get Real,

I would ask them sweetheart but it is the weekend, and late on a Sunday evening, don’t think anyone would be there to ask. I would like to seek the understanding and experience of people who have been in this situation thus inform me first hand how they came through it.

This Lady is not impressed by this performance what so every. I only ask a valid question and expected a valid reply, was this really too much to ask for.

Putting the boys to one side, is there a genuine Gentleman or Lady that can answer my original question please.

Boys need not apply

my advice on bitter experience is dont bother!Allthough Cyprus is in europe it still sticks to its antiquated rip offs by charging (taxes) on UK imports. We sent ours back after a request for £20k on a car valued at £3k in UK was beyond a joke.Yes we lived in Cyprus and had our permits, bought our home, had money in bank so were no drain on Cyprus whatsoever. We filled in all the forms required by customs for Nicosia and 6 months later were asked for them all again and having cost us a fortune to get hold of everything from uk we gave up and shipped it home to UK.High time the european union looked into this blatent theft!!

'Depsite EU membership, the Cyprus authorities continue to charge duty on vehicles. It is understood that the penalties imposed by the EU for doing this are less than the amount of revenue it brings into the country and therefore this situation is likely to continue!'

not my words the words of a Lawyer in Limassol

thanks for that milo,it is another bit of info for the euroMP to get his teeth into on our behalf and many others like us that have been ripped off.Like the 3 tier charging system for food etc that blatantly exists.Cheapest for Cypriots,2nd for ex pat residents and the highest for holidaymakers it is a scandal. No wonder Cyprus is having problems attracting visitors or hanging on to its bread and butter expat communities. We dont cost Cyprus anything unlike the millions that come to live in britain without a penny in their pockets and leech off our benefits system.

I would dearly love to bring my car over to Cyprus, the thing is I only bought it in August, it is on finance. Can I still bring it over? (Payments will still be kept up here, which is not an issue) or could I drive it over from the UK, if so how do I do this to either Athens or Turkey once got there?

If successful what documents do I need for Cyprus? Can I still register it in Cyprus?

Am not sure what to do or more essentially what I’m able to do.

Advise Please :D

Thank you

omg do you have any idea how many people take cars to cy from uk on finance?
cy's buy the cars on finance in uk, take them over mainly drive them to avoid the duty and bobs your uncle, wrong but it happens.
defo best you do keep up the payments as the log book will be sent back to uk dvla once you register the car
