Flag of the Occupation ADMIN PLEASE NOTE

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby CopperLine » Sat Jan 09, 2010 4:33 pm

Strange how this argument has a mirror image in Turkey :

How dare anyone use the most recognisable expression of the Kurdish people, the Kurdish language ? Kurds must not be recognised, Turkish nationalists insist, so let's prohibit the Kurdish language. Fortunately there are Kurds, there is a Kurdish language, whether recognised by some Turks or not.

There are TCs, there is a TRNC, there is a flag, whether or not some people recognise any of them or not. (As for flags in general, I think that they're a reflection of an infantile disorder, so we'd be better off without any).

A plague o' both your houses!

This flag is far more befitting but I'm certain that modern day Pirates might find it offensive to be associated with the "trnc".

All the TCs I've ever met tell me they don't take religion seriously and are secular. How can a flag with such an overtly Islamic symbol represent them?

As a Turkish Cypriot TRNC flag represent US. After the solution we are going to use it along with GC's flag (what ever they choose) also there will be United Cyprus flag and EU as well .
Have a look during the talks with what flag TC's goes to meetings?

Why do you have to link the flag with religion, TCs are not religious and do not link those symbols with religion more with country freedom home safety and thank god we got rid of the dangerous GCs.

Avast, me hearties and shiver me timbers. Reality? It be staring ye all in the face, you scallawags!

Walk the plank. Hoist the anchor. Thar she blows, landlubbers!

Fifteen men on a dead man's chest.
Drink and the devil have done for the rest.
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

It's your flag, supposedly. You tell me. Why choose a flag that represents Islam to represent a people who pride themselves in being secular?

Yes but....

http://islam.about.com/od/history/a/crescent_moon.htm

The crescent moon and star is an internationally-recognized symbol of the faith of Islam.
