Cyprus - Statements by the President of the Republic
The President of the Republic Mr Demetris Christofias, replying to press questions today on the sidelines of his visit to an old People’s Home in Makedonitissa and asked whether the Turkish Cypriot leader Mr Talat has invited the UN Secretary General to visit Cyprus, said that the UN Secretary General was not invited by Mr Talat. “The UN Secretary General has, for some time now, been planning a possible visit to Cyprus, if and when there is sufficient progress and in the event that there isn’t, the UN Secretary General will wait for later,” President Christofias noted.

Replying to a question on whether Mr Talat’s proposals, at first glance, constitute a step forward, President Christofias said that he gave the proposals to the leaders of the political parties to study them and that it would not be possible to disclose any information regarding the proposals. He also expressed the hope that Turkey will act more rationally and practice what it preaches about the year 2010.

Asked if the proposals were prepared in Ankara, President Christofias replied: “is there anything that happens here in Nicosia without the consent of Ankara? The answer is obvious.”

my story says no such thing. If there is progress he will come. Judging by the confederate ideas talat sent over, i doubt there's anything to write home about.

Why are you concerned? Not happy in the free thinking "TRNC"

Perhaps your little experiment in "anarchy" has failed and you need to come back into the fold, the soft embrace of the RoC 8)

O, I'd rather there be progree towards partition as I think it's the healthier option, but if it's progress towards unification then so be it. But extending the status quo is unlikely to create any paradigm shifts in outlook by either side that will change the course of the island for the better.

Then talat should cut the confederal 2 states crap and concentrate on what was agreed of one state, one citizenship.

He'll open his mouth again, as soon as Turkey tells him to do so and what to demand for Turkey and the settlers.!
