The average TC does not wish to undermine their position given the aims of the GC politicians. Like the GCs, they are happy in their current homes, they don't want to leave their homes a third time.
The political direction taken by the GCs is woefully repugnant to TCs. To achieve what you are saying requires an about face in GC policies. Hoping to convince TCs to reject living a somewhat unaltered life amongst a growing number of mainland Turks and instead changing their lives and culture around to fit into GC ideas of a solution is simply not going to happen. There is simply too much inertia.
In 2004 there was serious momentum. That has steadily dissapated.
As bir says, simply look at the dialogue from this forum. The fact that I cannot place a flag which I can identify with given the RoC flag is compromised in me eyes until the problem is resolved demonstrates why TCs can never accept what GCs keep insisting on.
This is a simple chat page, doesn't impact either our physical wellbeing, our family's wellbeing or our cultural freedom. If GCs can object enough to reject my identity here then what do think the average TC could do as a minority in Cyprus.
Ps. I'm not having a dig at GCs, just trying to help create better understanding.
At the end of the day, this is the land of the indigenous Cypriots; historically, numerically, financially, and in every other way you can care to mention, and those that oppose them cannot and should not expect a smooth ride on this island. It’s just common sense!
It makes as much sense as the Aboriginees in Australia saying "this is the land of the indigenous people historically, geographically, culturally and spiritually, and every other way you can care to mention, and those that oppose them cannot and should not expect a smooth ride on this continent..."
You forgot about numerically and financially!
Give it up Bir...
I didn't forget..I adapted it to the Australian situation..
What you are saying makes no sense at all...It totally ignores Cyprus history from 1571....some would say much earlier,as the indigenous Cypriots,if by that you mean the GCs, had never ruled in Cyprus, till 1960...When they did, within 3 years, they threw away the baby with the bath water...
I'm happy to include 1570... it was the year you made the biggest mistake of your lives coming here UNINVITED and murdering the Cypriot people to satisfy your barbarity and selfishness, but the tide has gradually turned and the hunter becomes the hunted.
