Probably she is right though CBBB. Here we are in 2010 and still have issues to solve that in other European countries have been solved hundreds of years ago. In 1996 I went on a course, in Sweden. It was at the marine biology lab of Goteborg university, near the Norwegian border. In one of our field studied, I came across a banner in the middle of a forest. I asked Per, our Swedish tutor, what it said. He told me that it pointed out to the spot where the Swedes fought against the Norwegians, some 300 years ago, for the last time. Apparently they had fought many a bloody war. However, they have solved all their problems since then and their pretty-as-pink people are now engaged in other activities, in normal societies, that are examples to be matched by all of us. I was also astonished to find out that there were some Fins living in Sweden, who decided to stay, when borders were readjusted. I used to work with such a Fin in Nicosia, some years ago and I felt jealous every time he told me how the Scandinavians managed to put human interests above stupid national interests.

Why can we not do the same thing in this insignificant part of the world? What is stopping us? I think I know the answer but I will not spell it out again. I propose however, we stop feeding the minotaur of hate with more blood of our best people and work together for the miracle, like the Scandinavians.

Is any of the Swedish territory under Norwegian occupation?

You claim to have gone there for a marine biology lab, but after reading this post I suspect it was to learn how to make the IKEA meatballs… Image

Thanks...And a very happy new year to you and your loved-ones,Bananiot...It is comforting to know that people like you exist... 8)

In their thousands Bir they exist . In London alone I know of hundreds that share our vision and the way to achieve it .
Whilst in Cyprus I do involve myself with some aspects of the Cyprob , I do prosecute as it were quite ferociously my dream , yours , Bananiots , Vuryek , The Cypriot , Kikapu , Deniz and a dozen plus from this forum alone. I never allow extreme views to deter my determination and to dictate or alter one iota of my beliefs that this island is ours , the Cypriots , that the hatred cultivated irresponsibly can cause a great deal of damage its unquestionable , that the "motherland" disciples are responsible for a part of our island under occupation is also unquestionable. You can live next to me just as Deniz Iceman and Kikapu can and I can live next to you.
Let us never lose hope.

Okey, dear compatriot...As one famous depressive said , "we will fight them on the beaches....we will fight them on land..." :)

Bananiot, I too will frolic in the forest and throw daisies in the air once my house is returned to me.

I believe that radical new paradigms will emerge from the current global economic crisis, which I believe to be far from over. I am not sure what form these paradigms will take, but I hope they will take humanity forward to a new form of sustainable existence; sustainable both in the sense of living within the finite means and possibilities of our planet, and also in the sense of avoiding conflict by respecting the inherent individual and collective rights of all co-inhabitants of the planet.

Oh, it's personal after all, then. Well, they can keep my house and my whole village, my school, the cemetery where all my relatives are buried, the whole place of my dreams, as long as we establish peace for now and ever, as long as we go through the intense emotions of friendship making to start with and eventually building the Cyprus of the future, where respect, mutual trust and stability become the trade mark. Any idea what I am talking about DT?
