70 million reserves? You gonna send your mothers as well?

Reserves might not be the right word as it appears to have caused confusion. What I was referring to is that there are plenty of young well educated people in Turkey that want and are coming to work and live in the TRNC I don't mean building sector workers.

"corrected" eh? If everything is relative, we r just amusing ourselves... a kind of amusement... bcz... bcz we don't have anything better to do or ... we feel the need to "correct"/correct others...

... and if everything is relative, how we can distinguish between the "correct" and correct?

Too much philosophy ...

"Correct me if i'm wrong"... does that mean "don't misunderstand me", "I don't wanna hurt u with what will i say", "I will say something that most probably u will be offended and retaliate with insults"... or something similar to these...

nvm... good night and good amusements to u...

I cannot remember 'retaliating with insults' Insan. Is this your sense of humour.

Happy New Year to you and you loved ones. :?

I called a friend today to warn them that we planned to visit tomorrow. He told me that someone was there visiting from Cyprus. He said they were related to me and were from Alaminyo.

The son-in-law of the lady from Alaminyo overheard my name and asked who this guy (me) was. He came to the phone and we found out we were classmates and best friends in the Lycee.
He is part of the 'Brain Drain' from Cyprus who graduated in medicine and worked in Germany as a brilliant doctor. He was also with me when the students were fired upon by GC police (22.12.1963) and wounded our best friend in the mouth - who also is a doctor in Australia. A lot of us left and never returned to our troubled island. A pity really.
We are arranging a meet-up before he returns to Germany. The last time I saw him was the 20th May 1964. 46 years.

I wonder how they would weigh in the Kickapoo scales of intelligence? I am sure he would find something amusing in that one too. He found my leaving Cyprus amusing.

First of all, the reports on one of the links Talisker gave, stated that the population of the Turkish Cypriot is 268,000, which is at least 150% more than there were in 1960. Somehow, whom ever put this report together wants everyone to believe, that if one becomes a citizen of the "trnc", then one becomes a Turkish Cypriot. Obviously, this is not the case since only the RoC can give citizenships for Cyprus and no one else.

But if we were to take the report seriously on the claim of 260,000 TCs, then how can there be "Brain Drain" in the north if there are 150% more "TCs" now (2007) in the north than there were in 1960, if there are more "TCs" now than ever before. If 40,000 TCs left the island since 1960, then it would mean that 200,000 new "TCs" have taken their place. If the report states that there is a "Brain Drain" in the north, it can only mean 3 things.

a) the report is not true, or

b) the report is true, but it means all the 200,000 new "TCs" from Anatolia had left their brains in Turkey before coming to Cyprus, or

c) they didn't have very much to begin with, which has diluted the remaining TCs "Brain Power".

So basically what the report is saying, the north is far worse off now with it's "Brain Power" at 260,000 "TCs" then in 1960 when the TCs numbers were around 100,000.!! :? :? :?

It means that more Anatolians coming to the north, the more "Brain Power" the north is losing.! Usually it works the other way with other countries. So what is the north doing wrong. Are they bringing in people who have become a net loss than a net gain for the "trnc"??.

I’m confused with this report.!:? :? :?

Is this the story of Nasreddin Hodjas missing liver?

Where he buys one oke/okkas of liver for the evening meal and his wife cooks it and feeds her neighbours. In the evening he returns home and sees no liver at the table. The wife says , "the cat ate it". The Hodja finds the cat and weighs it. It is exactly one oke/okkas. He asks the wife, "if this (the cat) is the liver, then where is the cat?".

Sorry, we need a bit of humour.

Something like that, Deniz.!

Perhaps if the north sent all the Anatolians back to where they came from, the TCs "Brain Power" will get back to where it was before and more.!

If there ever was a reason to send back the settlers in a settlement agreement, this would pass muster I reckon.!

Kiks, I was pointing out that the Brain Drain started in 1964 if not earlier. I havent got any statistics but from the people I know a lot of grads never returned. I'd say the same might apply to our GC neighbours too, but it would be more noticable among us (due to our smaller numbers). :?

I would agree with you Deniz if the report gave the TCs population at 60,000 for the north, taking into account all the 40,000 TC "Brain Drain" since 1960, but it gives the north's "TC" population at 260,000, which is 160,000 more than the original 1960 figures for the TCs.! So what the report is saying, the added 200,000 new "TCs" have not been able to replace the lost approx. 40,000 TCs ( my guesstimation) who had left since 1960. So what exactly has this new 200,000 new "TCs" have brought to the north, other than no brains at all, since the "Brain Drain" was still continuing in 2007.?
