Cyprus has concluded successfully (and first) the negotiations with the European Union and is now sure that will be admitted to the EU in 2004 regardless of a solution to the Cyprus problem.
The expansion - the biggest in European Union history - will create a mega-Europe of 450 million people in 25 countries and an economy of more than $9 trillion, close to that of the United States.
Meanwhile, the government is processing plans for the support of Turkish Cypriots. The measures include things like the employment of T/C to the free areas, free movement of T/C and T/C products to the free areas, export of T/C products with the stump of the Republic of Cyprus, recognizing some university degrees earned in the occupied areas, and participation of T/C to the euro elections of June 2004.
