It is amazing how sensitive the noses of anti smoking zealots are... They can stand in a high street midst the exhaust fumes of all the cars, buses and trucks with no problem. However, as soon as they see somebody approaching burning a couple of tobacco leaves they start caughing and waving their hands in front of their faces...

Nonsense , there is nothing "zealot" about disliking tobacco smell , many fumes affect our daily lives none the worst when sitting next to a third world habit adherent puffing away . Smoke as much as you like , if you do , just stay away from public areas where I and the many who have seen ....the light are having a quite drink or dining. Keep your drug exclusively for you , its your choice or rather your funeral.

I smoked , or rather I was an addict for 38 years , 11 years ago on being taken by ambulance to the hospital , second time in 2 months , suffering from severe heart arrhythmia and thinking all the time that my heart would stop in a second I asked my self in a very serious and soul searching way, I said , John you are a Plonker , you have been warned and you continue with this disgusting unhealthy smelly habit , I decided right there and then that if I survived I would never ever again put this disgusting cancer stick in my mouth but if I really fancied one it would not be inserted in my mouth but meston kolo mou.
There is nothing cool in indulging in a practice that every single male in the impoverished and mostly illiterate third world also does.
Give it up , if you do that is , and feel the joy of taste , fresh air entering your lungs , rejuvenated fresh looking face and above all eliminate that horrid tobacco smell , if you have kids don't do what I did for years , I had the fucking audacity to expect my children and my wife who died of cancer to breath in my fumes , what a fucking Plonker I was .

I just object to brain washed zealots like Z4 claiming that they can detect smoke on their colleagues or claiming that a single inhalation of second hand smoke causes cancer.

Z4 drives a car, in fact so proud of it is he that he uses it as his avatart. He is happy to drive around polluting the atmosphere with its fumes yet objects to smokers enjoying a cigarette.

This whole thread is not really about smoking per se anyway - it is about freedom of choice. The level headed among us believe that bars restaurants should have been able to choose smoking or non. Simples.

After all, bars and restaurants have always been able to choose to be non-smoking establishments and many have done so successfully. It is just not clear to many of us why the choice to be a smoking establishment is not available under this new law.

If you think that banning smokers from these places will cause them to give up then I suggest you read Velvet Glove Iron Fist by Christopher Snowdon. Various draconian taxes and punishments (including death by molten lead poured down your throat) haven't deterred smokers over hundreds of years. This is likely to be as successful.

My fear is that if we allow this law to pass unnoticed it will bead to other restrictions. Some of which may cause more concerns to zealots like Z4.

yes but they kill you much quicker then those drugs do.. they have a much harsher effect on the body they are way more addictive and harmfull to the body they make humans do stupid things to get more of it... i dunno.. ifit was up to me id legalise weed to... just like amsterdam. but the harder drugs peopel where selling off their wives and family to get more so i agree that they should stay illigal.. cocaine ahve you seen the effect it has on the nose? and xtc and lsd. i agree with weed since its legal in amsterdam but i guess everywhere else does not and finds it to harmfull.. check the video out on youtube... illigal drugs and how they got that way

california is considering decriminalizing it...they are short of cash...OZ it's just about decriminalized...

but on the other hand any thing that is chemical is dangerous, tho there is more ppl die from alcohol more than those who die from drugs every year,

yes but it doesent make you go crazy for more you dont sell your mother or your wife to get more you dont steal money to get more .. illigal drugs not only quick you quickly... like google the effects of cocaine what it does to your nose or xtc or lsd how fast they put you in the mental home how people steal to get more and end up living on the streets..

i agree nicotine is bad im told its harder to give up smoking then heroin but it kills you slowly and does not have the mental effects that hard class A drugs do or even weed which is class C in england..

if i was president i would legalise weed to just not the hard drugs.. but i am not and i can see the reasons why..

they use cocaine now the doctors i forget why they said but they still use it.. and xtc aparantly helps mdma it helped some women get over deaths in their family they claim the drug has helped them they where happy..

doctors would use these drugs for depression and would say they are helping. but later where condemed..
