Yes.

You can't un-invent cigarettes.

Remember the Americans tried to ban alcohol. It didn't work, the trade in booze just went underground and the government lost millions of Dollars in tax revenue.

If you banned cigarettes it would just go underground in the same way.

Remember also that drugs are banned almost world-wide. No advertising, no promotion, you can't legally sell them or posses them.

Yet millions of youngsters try drugs (and many become addicted to them) every year.

I'd suggest that banning cigarettes would make them 'cooler' in the eyes of youngsters, would lead to a huge black market trade by organised criminals, would remove billions from the tax returns of countries around the world and wouldn't reduce smoking at all...

In the UK the government spent millions (£30M I think) on 'enforcement' officers to check compliance with the law. They had powers to work undercover and even photograph smokers to secure evidence against them.

Exorbitant fines were introduced, Nick Hogan was ordered to pay £10,000 for breaching the law and Tony Blows £12,000...

Heheheh...

In the UK you can't smoke anywhere on a railway station - even right at the end of the platform which used to be the traditional place...

Instead, all smokers are crowded around the entrance to the station so you have to walk past them to get in!

im afraid thats why i started.. to be cool and smoke when i was 13.. but to be honest i dont really smoke that much anymore .. i can go months without and not even care years even.. i mostly do it when i drink alcohol i hate drinking and not smoking and at uni with a frappe.. which is another reason why im not much of a drinker i rarely drink alcohol.

plus anytime i am at home and i smoke i keep getting the hiccups i dont know why its so annoying.. it puts me off..

you never smoked?
