How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I'm proud of that flag. A TC gave it to me and I had it converted for mounting on an internal pole, complete with red and white tassels. Maybe not quite a big political statement as that gynormous painted flag overlooking Nicosia, but what the heck....

The flag is mounted on a guidon pole and stand with brass finial and ferrule. It's one of three flags in my study. I have a United States flag and a New Zealand flag similarly mounted and displayed in my study. It kinda makes my room look official-like...

I like flags. What more can I say. Besides, if POTUS can have flags behind his office desk, why can't I?

(Regular conversation in Expat's study)

Yank friend of Expat: And what the hell flag is that?

Expat: Errr, it's the flag of the TRNC.

Yank friend of Expat: And what the hell country is that?

Expat: Northern Cyprus. It's recognised by Turkey... and me.

Yank friend of Expat: And where the hell is northern Cyborg?

Expat: Northern Cyprus. It's an island in the eastern Med.

Yank friend of Expat: And why the hell have you got this flag in your study?

Expat: Errr, I support the TRNC's right to exist.

Yank friend of Expat: And why the hell do you care?

Expat: Errr, their ex-leader is a penpal.

Yank friend of Expat (confused): Expat, you're one hell of a crazy sonofabitch.
