Denktash, on page 169 of volume 10 of his memoirs, virtually admits - in describing how he was summoned to ambassador Dirvana's office where this accusation was levelled against him, yet failing to deny this accusation - to his culpability in the murders of Hikmet and Gürkan.

A very well known secret it was. Both were family friends. My memory of the two were from 1958, where they accompanied a group of teachers on a visit to the UK; to attend a conference in Bournmouth to be precise my uncle was one of those teachers. We were on the SS Messapia and I spent long hours chatting to them. I was 12 a year old 'traveller'.

The cyprus forum was devised to bring debate between the greek cypriots and Turkish cypriots regarding Cyprus and not to hurl abuse amongst each other.

I have deliberately kept away over the last few months, because the language being used on public view makes this forum a complete mockery of justice. All debates should be properly controlled by a chair-person or administrator.

Under normal circumstances any abusive language should be immediately thrown out; but it is not the case here, which leads me to believe that foul language is strongly encouraged on this forum otherwise a lot of members would have been banned by now !!

Strictly speaking Byron you are correct but over-regulation could lead to the demise of the forum. "Talk Cyprus" is a prime example of a forum that was/is over regulated and, at times, dominated by its pompous, opinionated founder and one or two adoring sycophantic moderators.

I think it's best to rise above abusive remarks and present your view in a mature articulate way. Some contributors to this site have a wonderful command of the English language that is always a pleasure to read, Copperline, Bill C and Floda to name but three, there are others. The fact that one may disagree with them is not relevant, I wish I had their skills - as this post clearly fails to demonstrate.

Jerry , by not condemning the use of foul language you silently encourage it. It is not so easy to ignore especially when in the majority of cases the language is deeply vindicative and above all extremely personal.

Unfortunately it does not give a good impression to the world at large to whom we are looking to impress in order to improve our status quo.

It means staying your course and not compromising your beliefs. What do you think it means? I'm not being sarcastic, BTW.

I am no betting guy Palio, but you did have the opportunity to find out from the TC friends you mentioned. Dont be afraid to ask. Some of them will answer truthfully; you will be able to suss them out easily. Ask and look into their eyes.
