So do prisons, Expat, they too exist in any country, but it does not mean you can just go and wonder around it's compounds or does it mean they are a independent country from the rest. As DT stated, the north is under occupation by a foreign power who are responsible for the north being cut off from the rest of Cyprus and not because the north was established through political understanding between the Cypriots for the TCs to have their own self determination to have their own country. If the Turkish Occupying force was to leave today, the "trnc" wouldn't last more than 5 minutes. So much for a "country" who can't be a country unless the occupying force is there to keep it afloat.!

Aren't you splitting hairs, Kikapu? And I think you're equating TRNC with southern Lebanon immediately after the Israeli pullout. There, the South Lebanese Army completely folded. I don't think that would happen in TRNC, somehow...
