2010 on the Cyprus Forum

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

2010 on the Cyprus Forum

Postby Svetlana » Mon Dec 28, 2009 11:51 am

As we enter the new year, could i make a plea, that Forumers focus on issues rather than pouring abuse on others. To my mind, those that resort to name calling demean themselves and their cause - people just stop listening.

I know feelings run high. I know when someone is unpleasant the natural reaction is to bite back - but ask yourself 'what does this achieve'?

I am sure some members would not like their husbands/wives/partners/children to see what they have posted here - they would be embarrassed by the sheer childishness or small mindedness.

Too often I see name calling based almost solely on another person's nationality - virtual racism. To justify this stupidity because 'well, they started it' isn't good enough, it just continues the spiral of unpleasantless.

How can we blame the political leaders for failing to agree or reconcile, if we cannot even do that amongst oursleves? So, please can we treat others with respect even when we totally disagree with their views.

I look forward to a positive year, on CF and that progress is made, in real life to finding a solution.

Is this not one of your usual New Year's wishes, Lana.?

You make perfect sense, by the way.!

Lana, tensions r high... as usual, since 1950s? Imagine we r discussing, debating in real life, somewhere we met... Guess how many would have been killed or injured?

I share ur above stated opinions and wish a more positive, mature, tolerant, democratic and DIALECTIC 2010 for all forumers!

Listen to this song please...

People Are People lyrics

People are people
So why should it be
You and I should get
Along so awfully
People are people
So why should it be
You and I should get
Along so awfully
So we're different colours
And we're different creeds
And different people have different needs
It's obvious you hate me
Though I've done nothing wrong
I've never ever met you so what could I have done
I can't understand
What makes a man
Hate another man
Help me understand
People are people...
Help me understand
Help me understand
Now you're punching
And you're kicking
And you're shouting at me
I'm relying on your common decency
So far it hasn't surfaced
But I'm sure it exists
It just takes a while to travel
From your head to your fists
I can't understand
What makes a man
Hate another man
Help me understand

But you can be easily bribed Lana; all one has to do is waive a Gucci handbag in front of you and your password is theirs!

Well said Lana- what i see written by some individuals on this site is the language of the gutter. do you talk like that at home or in front of your children?
I feel if you have to resort to answering someones opinion using such language then you have already lost the argument and your credibility.

So please Ladies and Gentlemen no less passion but less use of abuse in 2010 :)
