So said Sener Hassan Elcil to the Cyprus Mail upon his election to represent Cyprus in a Europe-wide Teachers Union Body, the European Trade Union Committee For Education ( ETUCE)
A well known T/C , a pioneer of the "THIS COUNTRY IS OURS " movement
and one who openly opposes our islands partition and refers to the "TRNC" as a puppet state , he is a proud citizen of the Republic of Cyprus , he also states.
Kikapu is not the only critic of the puppet state , VP take note .
Two points Milti.
Elcil is not as abusive as Kicks baby when he is opposed and secondly Is it not one of the GC Teachers trade union that has also criticised the fact that a TC has been elected to the post?
It's a free country every one has the right to agree or disagree provided such disagreement is carried out in a civil and democratic manner.
Kikapu is a very amicable guy who considers the "trnc" as a state created by Turkey in total disregard of international legalities.
That may be so, but the abuse he dishes out suggests that he is not so decent. He is not comparable to Bananiot what so ever. If the TCs did not suffer the consequences of 74 onwards would they have gone along with the TRNC. I think not. RoC has equal responsibility in what happened since 74. Starving an economy to death is not the act of a friend. If anything, it should have been the occupier who should have received that treatment. The TCs anger at what they received from the roc since 74 are deep and will take a hell of a lot more than just implementing the green line protocol to correct. May be one day they may even forgive the roc, but I suspect it will not be in my life time.
Are you forgetting that more than 160 thousand G/Cs have been forced out of their ancestral homes , are you forgetting that a part of Cyprus is under the occupation of a foreign country and that this third world foreign country has introduced into Cyprus tens of thousands of Anatolian peasants for one and only one reason. The complete turkification of a part of Cyprus and the utter annihilation of the T/Cs.
Turkey must leave Cyprus just as the RoC must do more to gain the trust of the indigenous to Cyprus T/Cs.
The corruption that exists in the occupied parts is real and it is a complete tragedy that the Turkish military have embarked upon a plan to annexe the occupied part inviting future conflict and this conflict will not just be between Cypriots but will involve much bigger fish.
Turkish troops out , united Cyprus with one people and one voice.
We own this island , us the Cypriots , those whose motherland is other than Cyprus are welcome to piss off to their respective motherlands.
Milti, you forget that if Turkey didn't arrive, there would have been no TCs left and 10s of thousands of GCs may have also been killed. You forget how 50 thousand TCs were also displaced. If they felt secure in the south, would they have moved?
I did not believe in such theories until I saw what Serbs did in Yugoslavian with the aid of Greeks.
There can be no reason on earth to put the TCs through the last 35 years. The real culprit was Turkey and yet hardly any action has been taken against her. The truth of the matter is when you are angry you kick the dog next you whether they contributed to your anger or not and only if it isn't as big as you.
Two wrongs do not make a right. There may have been a few thousand TCs who benefited out of Denktash and GC properties, but vast majority of TCs were innocent in all this. To this day, a TC cannot sell his grain in the south even if it is grown totally on TC land. That is not even considering the TC lands that GCs are using to export goods to the eu.
So stop excusing what the roc has done and is still doing to this day.
There is only one GC here who can see it. Which is a real shame.
