Enough of this nonsense, let's get back to the thread
A question to the TCs:
Should the GCs care what the TCs want or should they care about what Turkey wants?

Built their lives for over 35 years? That would mean only people who came in or before 1974, which makes no sense.
I recall a leader saying, (I assume it was Talat but I may be mistaken) that the settlers are "TRNC" citizens and should continue to be citizens after a solution. Why are they being allowed to vote for a solution for Cyprus if they will be required to leave afterwards?Viewpoint wrote:isnt it the same in the EU? what do we do with the Pontian Greeks?
Are the numbers comparable? Aren't they already EU citizens, in which case, what can we do?
So does that mean one rule for you and another for us.
Are you willing to apply EU regulations with regards to those who wish to stay in a united Cyprus?
If EU norms and principles were to apply throughout the island I would be satisfied.
So you agree to apply EU laws to the settlers on both sides of the divide that arrived after 1974? That was 5 years residency gives you the right to citizenship, am I right?

No, you are not right. It only applies to legal residents who came with a visa issued by the RoC and not to Illegal Aliens who came on the "Midnight Express".!

So what you are saying is in fact the only the GCs have the right to grant citizenship? If we are to meet halfway then all people who settled in Cyprus after 1974 whether it be in the north or south have to meet the criteria necessary to obtain citizenship, if you discriminate against those in the north then you will only be putting obsticles in the way of a solution.

First target for G/cs should be to find out what THEY really want and then to think about others..
