Few months ago on tv a sri lankan was found dead along the road larnaca avenue in nicosia with his bike nearby and the police instead of conducting a proper investigation on news said he may had fallen off the bike and died at night strange banana news

There is racism in every country; the far Right ''skinhead' attacks on immigrant workers and gypsies in Russia, the BNP in the UK, the attacks on Turkish workers in Germany and on Algerians in France, the KKK in the US etc.etc.

While I believe many older Cypriots 'look down' on foreign workers (many fo who are well educated - my Housemaid friend speaks four languages), we are spared the active racism of slogans and violence.

As multi culturalism develops in virtually every counrty of the world, let us hope that the younger generations learn to live with their foreign' neighbour.

As far as 'stealing jobs' is concerned; I am staying in a large and well known West End (of London) hotel and have yet to come across anyone who is British - either amongst the staff or the guests!!

The only people I have spoken to were Greek (kala Christougena) or Kwaiti (I passed on that one!).

He was left unaided to die, Mikiko, by the bananiot that run him over. Mind you, they do this all the time, no matter who the tragic victim is, as long as they get away with the crime. However, if the victim is a hapless foreigner and more especially if he is a dark skin nobody, the authorities will not bend backwards to find the villain.

Of course there is racism in every country Svetlana but what we are saying here is that if we were to close our eyes to it, it will expand and eventually engulf many unsuspecting members of the society who fall easily to slogans and simplistic arguments that put the blame on the most vulnerable members of our society.
