We should not forget that it was not that long ago that Cypriots were emigrating abroad by the 1000s seeking a better life than what they had in their war-torn and impoverished island. The poor people that come to Cyprus seeking a better life should never be blamed.

However the situation is not as clear as Bananiot wants to see it. His own job was never threatened by these people. If it was, and if he had to compete with a foreigner who was willing to accept a much lower pay for the same work, then maybe he would be able to show some understand to the other side as well.

Traditionally immigrants entering any country would seek lowly jobs , in the case of the thousands of Cypriots who emigrated in their thousands mostly to the UK, most worked in restaurants , in fact I doubt very much whether any first generation immigrants such as I , did not work in the Catering industry.
The early Cypriot immigrants of the 50s and 60s were to be found in most West End restaurants as waiters , chefs and managers. A large chain in those days was the Angus Steak House Group wher the general manager was a Cypriot as well as all other managers in the chain , head waiters chefs etc. The early Asians worked as kitchen porters , I my self worked at the Leicester Square Steak House as a cashier , a very busy restaurant serving more than 500 covers a day .
I doubt very much if the English raised much objection to us doing the kind of work that they would not undertake.

Instrumentation, HPLC's, coriolis flow meters, mag flows, pressure transmitters, HMI inputs/outputs, LOD machines, FBD's, etc... mostly via a Beamex CMX platform

Before I scrolled down to this bit I was going to let you know how brilliant I was at calibrating unruly HPLCs and dodgy Mass Specs.

A good clean out with the purest solvents and a steady (magical) hand on the dials ....

Fancy a job? Well paid, and you get to work with a nutter!!!

For a change I agree with Piratis (first paragraph only though) and he might like to know that me and my family was one of the 1000, (how he likes this number!) that emigrated in the early 60's. We came across no disrespect in England where the vast majority of the people were kind and helpful to us foreigners. Only the National Front (still around?) made fascist noises but found no support among the English masses.

Piratis spoils everything with his second paragraph where he is willing to give more than the benefit of the doubt to little fascists who think that their jobs are in danger from under paid foreigners. Instead of blaming the bosses who seek cheaper labour and the state that allows this to happen, he blames the foreigners who snap up jobs just to make ends meet. He also personalises things as per usual. He thinks that my views are directly related to my job! For him, it is impossible that a person may have steadfast values in life, no matter what his personal circumstances are. That is his problem, however. There is no envy here.

Its common practise especially whenever there's an economic slump in a country with higher than usual unemployment for the hapless immigrant to pay the price.

As much as i despise these idiots that have planned this demonstration however Bananiot as usual is exaggerating things to suit his own bananiot view of Cyprus.

I saw those flyers yesturday and the demonstration is titled

ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS should leave and not foreigners or immigrants.

This isn't my favourite past time of all Bananiot, correcting your "mistakes" and making me look like I'm defending those fascists, so next time please be accurate with your reporting.
