GR does “Madisons”… :?

Today my wife and I paid a visit to the new shopping center called “Madisons” which is in the same street as the now well known ”Cyprus Mall”.

In all its 5 stories high, with each floor being about the size of a football field but square in shape, and it left me wondering if the total floor area is bigger than the Mall! The last floor was unfinished and therefore closed off to the public.

The shopping center boasts a small Ice Rink, an 8-lane Bowling Alley, a Cinema, and countless small to medium sized shops, but you won’t find any food shopping there.

You’ll find plenty of Women’s gear like shoes, bags, clothing, etc but on the pricey end, as well as electronics gadgets, toys, nic nacs, etc.

The 4th floor has a good range of restaurants (much better than the Mall) so that was pleasing to see, although we already had lunch at home so we didn’t try any.

Overall, I was pretty impressed by the size of the place, good décor, plenty of parking space, and huge variety of goods on sale. Definitely worth a visit!

It was packed with people and something tells me that Shakollas (the Mall’s owner) won’t be having a very merry Xmas this year!

Regards, GR.

Visited it on Friday. Wasn't too sure about the layout, especially on the ground floor where you can walk through the cosmetic shop straight into Acapella, then onto the next shop along.

I think the mall itself is probably a little bigger, but shops like Carrefour and Debenhams make it look smaller than what it is.

The lack of walls must've saved a lot of precious space though...

Yeah, you're probably right...

You sound like a couple of women discussing this shopping experience!

GR has also just proved he really is crazy by admitting shopping with his Mrs.

My Beloved Comrades be wary of these Capitalist Temples to Profigalate Consumption with their Designer Goods of often dodgy provenance

Urge you all to think about reducing Unsustainable Consumption of the world's resources, to make do and mend. Turn towards taking pride in making things last.

To the good ladies of the Forum, a needle and thread are the soundest of investments, rediscover the lost art of darning and the Austerity Fashions of your grandmothers, and seek help, where needed, for any addictions to Shopping and overdone Credit Card Spending.

Hey Bill, a man after my own heart. The UK economy is crap because it has been based on borrowing money from overseas to fuel "retail therapy". We build shops instead of factories - it's much easier to sell something than to make it. Thatcher taught us that "greed is good", what a load of bollocks! My 4 year old niece (mother lives off State with two children) has her own TV in bedroom, another reli has more than 100 pairs of shoes, my own grandaughter has to have something bought for her (not by me) every time they go to the shops. The world has gone effing mad.

Rant over

I thought 80% of married life was all about shopping with your missus!

Maybe I need marriage counseling… :?

You are right, Bill, and it is only a matter of time before the down trodden proletariat rise up and overthrow the Iniquitous Capitalist US, its Zionist Bankrollers and British Imperialist running dogs - but if it can wait until I have done my Christmas shopping......
