Cannedmoose, you should try to find Claire Palley's recent book - "An International Relations Debacle: The UN Secretary General's mission of Good Offices to Cyprus 1999-2004". It has all sorts of inside information into how GC negotiating policy is formed, including the role of the national council.

Thanks Alex, I've been debating whether to buy it or not since I've heard from one side (GC) that it's a great book, yet other reviews that I've seen say it's just another example of, how can I put it... integral bias on Palley's part (given that she's been in the employ of the RoC for some time).

Nonetheless, I guess I should get it and formulate my own opinion. Just hope my bookcase can take yet more weight!

OK I also need some information.When Klerides was president there were so many leaks from the National Council to the Press the man really raged and stopped calling it at meetings for a while. He then tricked the participants by giving them a confidential document however each document he delivered was different by only one word. The next day the document was in the Press. Checking on the tricky word Klerides discovered who was leaking the information to the press.
Well what I want to know is who was leaking the documents of the NC to the press, did anyone of you hear anything?
