Turkey: occupier or liberator?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

The current situation is a thousand time better than what they have in store for us, we made our choice in 1974 and although we are open to alternative options we cannot capitualte to GC demands, it would take us back 35 years and put us at their mercy in every way possible, do you want to be a foreigner in your homeland? We must never forget that we are as much Turkish as we are Cypriot, the new generation Turkish settlers will over time strike a balance as well and become more Cypriot but we must work hard to show them we have our own culture which in places differs from Turkey but on the whole we to are Turkish in origin and that they should adopt our customs and ways, this will help build the new stornger larger generation of Turkish Cypriots in a land although not currently recognized by the world will over time develop as it has been doing for the past 35 years as a country for those of us who do not want to be ruled purely by GCs and demand a say in our own future.

The usual "evil GC" theories by VP.

VP, you keep saying on how bad GCs are in administering laws, democracy and human rights. At the same time you don't mind becoming a minority among Anatolian Turks. Are the Turks better in administering laws, democracy and human rights VP? When you compare the Republic of Cyprus and Turkey, you find that in Turkey the Turks administer laws, democracy and human rights better than we are?

And how about your "trnc"? How do you administer it? What is the "TC Style" of human rights and democracy when it comes to say the GCs that continue to live in the occupied areas?

The "GC Style" my friend, of an EU Cyprus, is way higher than any "Turkish Style" or "TC Style" when it comes to human rights and democracy.

So cut the lame excuses in trying to justify the stealing of our lands with the partition plan you created in the 50s before even you allow to Cypriots the chance to prove on how good they are in administering a true democracy.

We TCs are gradually coming to the ocnclusion that there is no deal with Gcs unless we capitulate to their demands and believe me that we will never do so the only alternative is to embrace what we have and work hard to conitnue to build a country albeit not recognized now that we the residents be they settlers of 30 years or 450 years ago (dont forget you are the ones who tell us we are not indigenous) can enjoy and thrive in.

How can anyone like me who does not know a united Cyprus which only lasted 3 years consider a country where GCs live speak greek and fly the greek flag and hate me for being a TC my country.

You are hated for your current actions VP, and rightly so. People like Bir or Kikapu who support a democratic and free Cyprus with equal Cypriot citizens are loved, not hated.

The alternative of choosing legality, democracy and human rights is always there for you. Of course you choose to disregard this alternative and the reason (as opposed to the excuses you give) is that you want to Turkify half of our island, and you will be satisfied with nothing less than that.

You can't have a separate country on stolen land VP. You can continue to insist on this and you will continue to suffer the consequences of your own wrong choices. The sooner you realize this the better for you and for us.

If evil equates to trust then ok you are evil but I and the majority of TCs do not trust GC the AP is a clear sign of this only with such a plan did they say yes.

YES Piratis I have stated this before and will state it again I trust the Turks more than the GCs, all you have to do is look at the way to live to understand how far we have advanced since 1974 and how we lived prior to that at the hands of GC style democracy and human rights.

You do not have a large TC population in the south so you cannot claim that you administer democracy and human rights better than Turkey, that is still an unknown that is why safeguards and guarantees are vital to any solution making sure you abide by the rules and know fully the consequencies.

And how about your "trnc"? How do you administer it? What is the "TC Style" of human rights and democracy when it comes to say the GCs that continue to live in the occupied areas?

We administer ourselves thats the key, although we are not perfect and we unlike you do not claim this, where have you found GCs being treated badly in the TRNC in 2009?? They have their own school teachers and books, own representative and are not treated any differently from other residents of the TRNC.

The "GC Style" my friend, of an EU Cyprus, is way higher than any "Turkish Style" or "TC Style" when it comes to human rights and democracy.

You can keep it, unless our rights are backed by safeguards and guarantees no TC will take a leeap of faith just because GCs cliam GC style administration is better than ours.

So cut the lame excuses in trying to justify the stealing of our lands with the partition plan you created in the 50s before even you allow to Cypriots the chance to prove on how good they are in administering a true democracy.

Call it what you will but the reality faces you right in the face everyday, the island has been physically divided for 35 years and it appears from understanding the GC perspective that you so admantly support will stay that way indefinately. That leaves us with only one option to which TCs are gradyally waking up to is that we have to take ownership of the TRNC and all its residents to build our own unique culture and future we did it 450 years we can do it yet again necuase this time there is no new element we are also Turkish as much as we are Cypriot.

You leave us no alternative as you demand we capitulate which we will never do.

This, in my view is a sincere and valid question. It is odd that none of the partitionists out there have cared to venture an answer.

How bizarre is it that extremist Turkish Cypriots consider "majority rule" to be some sort of dirty word and "democracy" obscene? These extremist Turkish Cypriots have a blind nostalgia for rule by a belligerent Ottoman Pasha in the 21st Century and in Europe no less.

If it means the protection of my people that Id rather be hated thank loved, Kikapu is a GC arse licked and Bir has gradually chnaged his opinions of throwing GCs into risk when there are people like you around. I represent the average TCs then as I stated you confirm the majority of TCs are in fact hated by GCs.

The alternative of choosing legality, democracy and human rights is always there for you. Of course you choose to disregard this alternative and the reason (as opposed to the excuses you give) is that you want to Turkify half of our island, and you will be satisfied with nothing less than that.

Gc administered style democracy and human rights are not for me, you cannot be trusted with our future so there has to be safeguards and guarantees to keep you in check and if you do not act fairly you will know fully the consequencies.

You can't have a separate country on stolen land VP. You can continue to insist on this and you will continue to suffer the consequences of your own wrong choices. The sooner you realize this the better for you and for us.

We are willing to "suffer" what ever is necessary and more as the alternative which you peddle is unthinkable.

Not when the majority have shown they are untrustworthy.

Explain that to the scotts, welsh, irish, basquians, corsicans, kurds and all the other people who suffer under this magnificent system of 5 year dictatorship we choose to name demcrocay.
Are you kidding?
I think you will find that most TCs worry far more about being killed and thrown down a well or put through a mincing machine than anything else, all done in the name of democracy of course.

I think by now you should know what to do with your democracy and it involves rolling it into a cylindrical shape to begin with but I think you can use your imagination for the rest, Sir.
Regards.

 Tim u r funny... and Expat asks boring questions... actually he could ask this question to Denktash...

Anyway... There is already an international treaty that signed by all concerned parties which legally allows Turkish troops to stay in Cyprus.. the excessive number of Turkish troops in TRNC arise from the defacto situation; unresolved Cyprus problem...

There r laws and regulations in TRNC constitution related with Turkish troops...

Under the ongoing, unchanged defacto situation, there's no need for TRNC and Turkey to sign any other military treaties...

Since 1974, TC-Turkish officials reiterated for thousands of times that only the mutually accepted number of Turkish troops would stay in Cyprus after a comprehensive solution found to the Cyprus problem...

Hope it helps, Expat... and anti-partitionist Tim...

It's one of the dumbest questions I've ever heard!

Turkey herself invented the "TRNC" a decade after she ethnically cleansed this territory, and you two are now asking Turkey to get permission from her installed puppets?
