Thomson passengers vote Paphos airport first in Europe

A POLL held among Thomson Airways passengers ranked Paphos airport first among the major airports of Europe.

The poll involved all airports in the Thomson Airways network during the 2009 summer period. Thomson Airways accounts for more than 25 per cent of the passengers served at Paphos.

The newly-renovated airport attracted the highest percentage of positive votes and was chosen as the airport which leaves the most favourable impression on travellers and at the same time offers exceptional service to the travelling public, airport operators Hermes said.

“This is the first time that an airport of the Cyprus Republic has occupied such an honoured position and has been awarded “Best Resort Airport in Europe” by the travelling public,” Hermes said.

“This proves not just its great potential but also the determination shown by Hermes Airports staff in carrying out their duties. This first award is not just an acknowledgement but it forms the benchmark for the future.”

I wonder if this poll is available on line anywhere .Personally I do not believe it .I think it is an effort by Hermes management to camouflage the attrocious prices charged at both of Cypru's airports.
I have searched for a Thomson official poll findings , none available , where did Hermes get this information.

""According to a press release by Hermes Airports, in a poll held by Thomson Airways, their passengers ranked Pafos International Airport as first among the major airports of Europe."

Here is another PRESS release by HERMES : FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE 16.DEC.09 The International Airport of Paphos has been selected by passengers as first among major airports in Europe. According to a press release by Hermes Airports, in a poll held by Thomson Airways, their...

So lets ask HERMES the link where this alleged poll took place.

Let me say from the start , I do not for one minute believe that such a poll ever took place .

Sorry to disappoint those that think that all is fine with our airport facilities , I travel to Cyprus regularly and I don't go to either Paphos or Larnaca to entertain my self .
I consider that the so called duty free shops are fleecing the gullible who think that prices are indeed duty free when in fact they are the highest in Europe.
As for the prices charged for drinks and snacks , well what can I say , a rip off , so come on Hermes provide that POLL !!
So far all I can find on google is reports by Hermes !
Common sense tells me that this so called Poll is a fabrication by HERMES

Are you suggesting that Hermes would lie about something like this?

If that is the case, then Thompson should sue!

The article is very self explanatory. Paphos International was nominated as the best in Europe. 8)

Not bad for the future capital city of Cyprus! :D

I'm suggesting that since no evidence of such a poll was presented by HERMES and that its report is purely a press release by them selves then we must doubt the existense of such a poll. Lets not be taken in by HERMES !
The nomination of Paphos airport as the best is contained in a report by HERMES!!!

Cyprus risks seeing its airports at Larnaca and Paphos becoming 100% more expensive than other Mediterranean leisure-based airports if the price increases planned by Hermes Airports go through, according to the International Air Carrier Association (IACA).

“Cyprus is in danger of pricing itself out of the market and inflicting long-term damage to the country’s tourism industry,” the IACA said. It said it had called on Hermes and the government to reconsider the charges before they come into effect on April 1, saying that a transparent system with justifiable levels of charges was in the best interests of airports, airlines and tourism to Cyprus. “Airport charges must reflect the quality and level of services provided at airports,” IACA said.

“These charges and fees fly in the face of the standards set by the aviation industry on charges and raise some serious questions about the transparency of the government,” added Sylviane Lust, IACA Director General.

This report was in 2007 , HERMES increased their prices since further !!

It is only natural that the best in Europe should also be the most expensive.

No surprises there, as quality has its price! 8)

Paphitis , you know very well how I and my late wife felt about Cyprus , a place we always considered the BEST.
However since I care passionately for Cyprus and the well being of all its citizens I find the price hike by greedy manipulators very annoying. HERMES , does not own Cyprus. They are causing immense damage to our tourist industry , the life line of a very large percentage of Cypriot people. They are taking the piss mate and they need people like me to tell them . The prices charged at these airports are nothing short of a well organized fraud that will have serious repercussions on Cyprus's most important revenue earner , the tourist industry.
HERMES YOU ARE RIPPING PEOPLE OFF AT BOTH AIRPORTS .

Hermes are obviously offering unparalleled quality service, and passengers obviously don't feel like they are being ripped off which is why Paphos International was nominated as Europe's best! 8)

Facts are facts Milti!
