My advice would be to not bother unless you absolutely need them.

I don't know about implants but I've got 6 porcelain veneers and they hurt like a mother******!

Once the pain went away I had to deal with the humongous overbite they left me with...

Why do you need them? If its for cosmetic reasons don't do it!

If you had periodontal (gum) disease before you lost your teeth then I would say that any dental implants (which will cost a fortune) will only have a limited chance of success, and will likely not last too long. You might be stuck with dentures.

 He can always borrow Miltiades’ dentures for a couple of days and see how he goes before forking out all that money… 8)

We should listren to Talisker here as he is the expert on this, but I will offer my (amateur) opinion.

There are two methods: immediate loading, which takes a couple of visits to the dental surgeon and can be accomplished in a week and a the more traditional method which takes some 3-6 months.

Normally they insert a titanium screw into the jaw bone and a bridge is later fitted to this and a porcelin crown is fitted to the 'tooth'.

Cost in Cyprus, ranges between €1500-€2000 for a single implant. There are 'discounts' for muliple implants - as, for example, 3 teeth only require 2 implants and so on.

I had eight implants about three years ago after I knocked the top row out in an accident. It's not cheap and cost over six thousand Cypriot pounds at the time. As Svetlana said; the more you get fitted the cheaper they are. I've heard that people are flying out to Syria to get this dental work done as it is much cheaper there, even taking into account travel costs
