"kourkoutades" now that word confirms that this APOEL fan is 100% Cypriot, thank you!

You don't need to be born or raised in Cyprus or talk in a funny and weird dialect to be 100% Cypriot!

Funny and weird dialect? Are you kidding me? It's this dialect that makes us different from the TCs and mainland Greece! The Cypriot dialect MUST be preserved at all costs!

I don't have an issue with the dialect, but having said this, I can't speak it at all. This is common in the Diaspora!

Sorry, but I resented how you implied that only those that were born in Cyprus and have lived in Cyprus and speak the lingo, are the real Cypriots. There are many of us here that can take offense to this.

No offence intended, I apologize.
I am "diaspora" as well and my Cypriot lingo is compromised by 30 years of absence from Cyprus. I noticed that while talking to friends at Cyprus, they look at me like I come from another planet! The locals cannot understand why my dialect skills are in such poor levels. Some of them may even laugh at me while others will ignore me and consider me as an outsider or unrelated to the local population. Did you get that feeling?
Nevertheless, Cypriots want to keep it that way, i don't blame them.
Georgios

Yes I do feel like that sometimes.

I feel like a foreigner and get treated like one sometimes, but I forgive them. Most of them don't know any better as many have not even left Cyprus. They are very funny.

Welcome to CF Giorgos.
