A CF Good Will mission for a 19yo lady.

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

I was just about to suggest the same thing Deniz!

Obviously, if the family have some objections, then we will respect their wishes.

Paphitis, I do respect your sincerity in this matter; however I also propose we carry on with the donations provideed that a suitable 'grave' be restored of a GC lady in recognition that both sides have had problems with vandalism.

What do you say.

I am all for the TCs starting their own initiative and agree with you all the way on this. However, this would be a matter for the TC members of this forum to decide.

If the TCs decide not to initiate such a noble act, then I can hardly blame them at all, judging by the response to this thread. :?

bu...bu.....the thread title says

"A CF Good Will mission for a 19yo lady."

Sometimes you need to put your money where your mouth is and do something for the greater good.

I now I can count on your support as well, since you vehemently fight for Cyprus and have many TC friends. I don't think you are just all talk and no action or a "half baked Cypriot", which is why I am expecting your imminent generosity...

Paphitis, it's not right to destroy the sacrosanct act of donating to Charity by blackmailing.

I have already told you, and Deniz agrees with me, that graves (as recent as this one) are private and the personal wishes of the family should come first. You should not even be discussing such a matter without their consent.

Why don't you drop this act until Deniz and Miltiades communicate with the family.

Family always comes first when it comes to decisions of their close ones, and you us the outsider should always RESPECT it.

That is exactly what I suggested as well, after Deniz! The thought did cross my mind O, even before Deniz posted what he did.

Blackmail is not my style. Either people will support this venture, with the family's backing of course, or they won't.

Sadly, I don't have high expectations of my fellow countrymen, but I hope they prove me wrong!

Auntie, you are doing Paphitis an injustice by calling it an 'act'.

The 19 year old Aydin Hasan was killed in a road traffic accident whilst travelling in a car driven by her cousin - on the Klavya bridge approaching Larnaka in the year 1956. Many of you were not born yet.

Obviously not that recent!

Your cynicism is unwarranted. The flaws in your judgement have been going through people's minds. So don't expect much response until this premature act of charity is clarified.

@ Deniz

Act of Charity! ... Troublemaking Turk!

Its NOT cynicism. I would call it perceived realism driven by experience!

Sadly, I see flaws in judgment elsewhere, but that is not for me to point out.

Yes, def agree, must be done with family approval ....

but before we do that we must think ....

How much would this cost?

Can we realistically raise the required sum?

I am not too sure how much it will cost. I am thinking around the 1,000 Euros for a replacement, and we may yet need to do whatever is required to repair the existing. Islamic memorials are much more humble than Christian memorials, so I am presuming that it will not be all that expensive.
