Greek-Australians tend to be very right-wing politically, and are thus more rigid in their doctrine of "Greeks don't do bad things because we're superior". The Greek-Australian community was also very supportive of the "White Australia" policy of the early-to-mid 20th Century.

any proof by any chance comical expat?...or is it a case of not taking your anti diarrhea tablets today...

Just look at the voting demographics in Australia through the 20th Century, and you'll see clear support for those politicians who favored heavy restrictions on non-European emigration to Australia. When I was last in Melbourne, I saw a documentary about Greek Australians and this facet was borne out.[/quote]

here we go shitting all over the forum as per usual...come on comical expat surely you can't be this dumb...but then again?...

...ask your penpall he might give you some clues...better still I might send him a collection of your ramblings, showing him how much you are helping his cause...dumbass...

but why you jumping all over the place like a chook without a head comical expat?...you say I am a right winger supporting white immigration, with no evidence, and you obviously do not approve of such a policy, but here we are you not only supporting but endorsing ethnic cleansing...so what is your point comical expat?...can anyone get any dumber than comical expat?... ...let me guess you keep on overdosing on your stupid medicaton huh?...

But you must support ethnic cleansing, Boomerang. Proponents of enosis would be ethnic cleansers as a matter of course. After all, Crete was a good precedent for that... but then of course, Greek nationalists would NEVER think of doing such a thing as you're too cultured...

I know about how the enclaved Greeks were treated by the Turkish military, Boomerang. That is one aspect of the TRNC that is not something to be proud of. I also know how Turkish Cypriots are being treated in the south. Maybe not quite so nastilly as what the enclaved Greek Cypriots in the TRNC had to endure, but still the Turkish Cypriots in the RoCy are not exactly made to feel a part of the community...

Ethnic Cleansing is a nasty term, and it has become accepted in some parts of the world while being condemned in others. The removal of ethnic Germans from Poland and the Czech Sudatenland after WW2 is a good example of the "accepted" ethnic cleansing internationally. And yes, I was referring to those who had leved there before the Nazis came to power.

It is my considered opinion that the end goal of the Greek Cypriot majority since 1960 was the eventual removal of the Turkish Cypriot presence in Cyprus. That would come under the term "ethnic cleansing", wouldn't it?

Why the 50's and 60's in particular; and not further back when you spent 3 centuries enslaving us?

When rumours of our pending freedom circulated in the 50's, from our (GCs) struggle, you were too busy killing us in order to prevent this happening ... So, who were we to integrate with? Some foreign minority which still yearned to rule us, either by themselves or in collusion with the British?

Face the truth Bir, the onus was on the minority TCs to integrate with the majority and not the other way around as we had not gone anywhere to impose our culture ... something which only you had done! And don't try to deny that part of your past by only concentrating on the 50s & 60's (a time, anyway, which history shows you wished to continue unfair privileges and push for partition).

Frankly, I don't care to beg you and your ilk for integration. I am happy to see you all leave if you are so adamant against integrating into our democratically-run country. Just give back the properties you hold from the rightful owners and damned well bugger off.

I hold no properties from any owner,Oracle...In fact my mother has 22 donums of land in Paphos region which has been lost to her for over 35 years....That of course does not concern you in the least...It is only TC land left in the south, doesnt count really....And I did bugger off in 1969,not of my own choice I might add...But that doesnt concern you either, one or 60 TCs less in a month of 69,good riddence to bad rubbish right???Funny, noone was talking about the TCs democratic and human rights those days....The plan was to squeeze us from all angles,so we can leave Cyprus to her rightful owners...choosing to be selective with your history will only make me remember it more, and I will remind you more of those very democratic (!) days filled with human rights at every opportunity...

What exactly is this “unique identity” you’re on about? :?

If I take the common Turkish Cypriot traits like…

1. Illegally selling GC properties.

2. Providing a safe haven to foreign criminal fugitives.

3. Importing illegal immigrants thereby altering the Cyprus demographics.

4. Looting priceless ancient artifacts and desecrating churches.

5. Blackmailing for ridiculous undemocratic political arrangements.

…in my eyes, most of you Turkish Cypriots are just a bunch of uneducated and dishonest jerks, so what do you know that we don’t? :?

Enlighten us about this “unique identity” you brag…

Spare us your political,blinkered,prejudiced opinions,GR!
If most of us are the uneducated and dishonest jerks that you say we are, then you should thank Turkey every day for sparing you the agony of living with us...You want to know what a TC really is...???Look in the mirror!!! Then close your heart to prejudice and bigotry, and open your heart to empathy and compassion...Then you will be looking at a unique TC... :)

I’m still waiting for you to educate me about this “unique TC identity”!

I gave you 5 popular Turkish Cypriot traits that have been part of the TC culture for at least three decades, and am now waiting for you to add to this list… don’t make me finish it off for you!

If you insist,GR!
Here are some unique TC traits:

1. Patience....Having lost the use of their properties in the south (in my case 22 donums in Paphos),the TCs have been waiting patiently for over 35 years to get them back...Most have died waiting, though my Mother is nearly 90 and hanging on...

2. Forgiveness and good will...Despite having been totally ignored and disregarded by their GC compatriots for decades, voting to reunite the island in 2004,only to recieve a slap in the face...

3. Humility and hospitality...having suffered for long years due to treacherous dream of ENOSIS,their readiness to share their good fortune with those less fortunate then themselves...

4. Respect for natural and religious treasures...Taking all precautions to remove priceless artifacts to protect and preserve them for posterity...

5.Willingness to compromise... Having achieved at terrible cost their cherished dream of TAKSIM( partition) ,being prepared to risk all and reunite the island under a BBF proposed by the UN...

You see GR! If you want to be blinkered about us,you should be prepared to get some of your own back...The above traits are perfectly valid and logical from purely TC point of view....don't you agree??? :)

This is not in any way a facetious question. My understanding is that TCs who left the island prior to 1974 are entitled to petition for the return of their immovable property. Have you made a formal application for the return of this land?
