"Sitting around the coffee shops smoking the Nargile all day like a pasha, while waiting for handouts from Turkey to arrive!"

You like? It's all part of the unique Ottoman Remnant culture is it not? :?

GR, try judging people(no matter what ethnicity they have) in a dialectic way by taking into account their circumstances... Even if it requires the knowledge of criminology...

Without any dialectic way of thinking which's something u r afraid a lot bcz it might justify the people's actions u harshly, immaturely, intolerantly, mercilessly and pre-judicedly critisize; u r not makeing any sense towards the solution of the problem but just being a part of the problem, even spreading it to a greater extent... thus, making it more difficult to be solved...

Don’t just throw sophistry around because it doesn’t work with me… just answer the question:

What exactly is this “unique TC identity” other than what I’ve written?

I seem to know more about Turkish Cypriots than the rest of you put together!

GR, any group of people (colonists, for want of a better word) living away from their country of origin for a period of time develops their own distinct identity. Australia and New Zealand are good examples of that. The majority of them originiated from colonists from the UK, and they developed their own distince identity brought on by the local conditions. A close friend of mine who is doing post-graduate university regarding cultures had told me that even in Cyprus, the Turkish Cypriots are distinctive, both culturally and linguistically, from the Mainland Turks.

Since you are such democrats, why not reveal your personal details too, so that we can play in an even field? Also, instead of asking me (in Greek) to scratch your testicles (after I finish scratching halil's) why don't you take a course in proper manners so that you may start some proper service to your miserable existence and your pathetic Cypriot backwardness which you have taken with you to Australia?

Oh yes Kikapu, this is the level of these fascists from Australia!

here we go again, with the banana whining, what did i do wrong...you are so blinded re banana you start with the labels and then whine...how old are you ffs...or rather how high is your damn IQ...

what you look like is of no concern of mine and I never commented on how you look, but what concerns me the most is your insistence and not acceptance of the will of the majority excercing their democratic right during the ref with labels...and you then you have the balls to call others fascists...get a life you lowlife...

You obviously need to learn how to spell properly: it's "keep", not "kepp", and it's "bwana", not "banana" (with a comma just before it). Things like this make me wonder about your educational level. Does this also mean that you think that "beer" is spelled "XXXX"?

Why the 50's and 60's in particular; and not further back when you spent 3 centuries enslaving us?

When rumours of our pending freedom circulated in the 50's, from our (GCs) struggle, you were too busy killing us in order to prevent this happening ... So, who were we to integrate with? Some foreign minority which still yearned to rule us, either by themselves or in collusion with the British?

Face the truth Bir, the onus was on the minority TCs to integrate with the majority and not the other way around as we had not gone anywhere to impose our culture ... something which only you had done! And don't try to deny that part of your past by only concentrating on the 50s & 60's (a time, anyway, which history shows you wished to continue unfair privileges and push for partition).

Frankly, I don't care to beg you and your ilk for integration. I am happy to see you all leave if you are so adamant against integrating into our democratically-run country. Just give back the properties you hold from the rightful owners and damned well bugger off.

I wouldn't put too much credence into what Boomerang says, Bananiot. Greek-Australians tend to be very right-wing politically, and are thus more rigid in their doctrine of "Greeks don't do bad things because we're superior". The Greek-Australian community was also very supportive of the "White Australia" policy of the early-to-mid 20th Century.

Just look at the voting demographics in Australia through the 20th Century, and you'll see clear support for those politicians who favored heavy restrictions on non-European emigration to Australia. When I was last in Melbourne, I saw a documentary about Greek Australians and this facet was borne out.
