I walked away from this remark, rather than spoil GR!'s thread. But, the injustice of not challenging such a comment is an affront to women who have suffered or live under the fear of such possibilities. I'm old enough to have verbally and physically seen off enough "men" who erroneously believed they have such a "right" over women. I hope it made them think twice. So, I won't remain silent.
I'm really disappointed in you Malapapa. You try very hard to come across as a liberal, impartial critic who is none-the-less emotionally concerned about the future of Cyprus. You object to my posting my views in CyProb, I take it, and not just on the forum generally? But the "Cyprus Problem" is
not just a male environ, my dear. The fear of a future amongst Turks, or under their watchful opportunistic expansionist eyes is very real for many of us because with them come backward views such as yours above, and on a
massive, state and religion-subjected scale.
Clearly, we still have vestiges of such immoral, inhumane thinking, which insult humanity, amongst many poorly-educated people and general bigots. Obviously, even amongst a few "educated" ones, since you claim to be in that league.
A society is judged by how women are treated. Indeed, it is the instinct to protect their weakest/women against getting a "good seeing to just to shut the fuck up" which makes men out of boys; civilised men out of barbarians ...
Such views as you expressed, above, have no place in our future.
