Anyone know where I can get a DM500s flashed in Larnaca or Nicosia? Just got a power light come on and nothing else. Needs to be flashed for it to start working again on the free to air channels;)

Take it into MP Sat (official Dreambox service center) in Nicosia.
I believe they are at 14 Akropoleos Avenue,Strovolos (industrial state opposite Orphanides shopping center)

Hoping that I have a genuine dreambox, though I have a funny feeling that its a clone.

If you have a null modem cable (RS232) i can send you the necessary software and instructions so that you can easily do it yourself at home..
Null modem cables can be purchased from any electronic & PC store..

I’m starting to realize why they call it a “Dreambox”… everyone keeps dreaming of all these channels they never get for a wide range of reasons! :lol:

okay. i keep seeing all these posts for "DREAMBOX" can someone please explain what this is? i know its some kind of sky satelite channel type thingymajig. but what is needed to run it? a big dish? how big? internet? how fast? what channels can you get? english. {i can not speak arabic or greek/cypriot}

It is a satellite receiver which runs Linux. As such it is completely customisable and you can get it to do many things that you can't achieve with a 'standard' box...

One of the things you can get it to do (and hence its popularity) is to download card codes from a central server... i.e. you can (illegally) get access to subscription channels without paying the full cost...

The dish requirements remain the same. I.e. if you want to watch BBC with a Dreambox you need a mahoosive dish.
