Is Law-Law better than Jaw-Jaw?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Is Law-Law better than Jaw-Jaw?

Postby Malapapa » Mon Dec 07, 2009 11:10 pm

• The Apostolides case against the Orams at the ECJ;
• Numerous Cypriots securing compensation from Turkey at the ECHR for human rights violations;
• Many, many more to follow, including now one London-based TC challenging the RoC over rights to her property in the free areas (good luck to her);
• The Church of Cyprus suing Turkey over access to its religious sites;
• A $40 billion lawsuit against Turkey in the US by owners of property in the north...

Individual Cypriot citizens are pursuing and now gradually securing justice in the courts in ways that many decades of political negotiations, proposals and plans have failed to deliver; for either side.

Jaw-Jaw may be better than War-War but, in Cyprus's case, can we now conclude that Law-Law is better than Jaw-Jaw?

But still no solution and not one inch of land returned, not one Turkish soldier gone or even one settler.....keep on collecting little piece of paper judgement uninforcable with no consequence...when did Turkey pay a fine?

Turkey doesn't pay fines it's obliged by international agreements to pay? :shock:

If this is true then how can you possibly expect Jaw-Jaw to work?

According to the European Commission on Enlargement of the EU Turkey continued to make progress on the execution of ECtHR judgments. All pecuniary compensation was paid on time, totalling €5.2 million in 2008.

Terms like Gavur and especially "TWAT" are forbidden in this court.

What happened to JAW-JAW? :?

Freedom of speech is a freely branded, but seldom exercised, right...

(P.S. those aren't expressions I freely use. But feel free to BAN-BAN Expatkiwi)
