It may be Missouri to you, Kristyn, but it is "Misery" to the rest of the country.!

It is also known as the "Show Me State". What's there to show, other than showing me the hell out of there.!

I know it's not that bad there, but how on earth did a nice country girl like you ever heard of a place called Cyprus and actually went there since most Missourians do not even leave the state, let alone the country.?

Beleive me I KNOW I live in the state of MISERY !! .. it has its charm if you can see past the rednecks and racists..... :? ......to say the least I dont fit in too well around here

The "Show Me State" is I am not gonna beleive it until you show me ..

Well .. I could tell the whole story but I will keep it simple :D Ive been itching to cross the BIG water and I had been talking to a friend online who lives in Cyprus and decided that a island in the middle of the Mediterranian Sea would be perfect .. :D and I LOVED it.

Looks like that's where Expatkiwi will be moving next then, after leaving the KKK in Arkansas.!

Well, for a country girl from "Misery", you did well to do some exploring to broaden your horizon a bit. Good luck to you if you do end up in Cyprus. It's always hard in the beginning to adjust to any place, but if you are determined, you can overcome obstacles as you meet people of that nation.!

Why don't u guys help Kristyn and tell her the culture shock that she may experience? Also, what's the biggest difference between British and Cypriot culture? For me, I haven't found anything truly shocking. Of course, there are differences. I'm from a different country. I found that the men really take care of themselves. I've never seen this before in the US or my country. They care about their clothes and how they look. Of course, I like this to an extend. Also Cypriots are very friendly once u get to know them, but when u first see them they don't look friendly at all. They look kinda mean and some snobby. They just don't smile at strangers. When u enter a room they would all look at you. When I first saw my husband, I thought that he looked mean (besides good looking). In my country, people are very warm. We would smile at strangers. In addition, Cypriots get dressed up to go everywhere. hehe I found that women really take care of themselves even after children and several years of marriage. I think that this is good.

@ Epsilon If you want to tell the girl to stay in the US, I think u should do so in English. She'll better understand.

Hopefully the culture shock will not be too bad.
I lived in Guatemala for 4 months with my ex-husband, that was culture shock!
