compared tot he north cyprus we have no flags... seriously every other building has a flag anywhere the turks found a place to put one its there! even infront of the greek churches the apostolos antreas.. very big flags and roads leading up to mountains with more flags and even more flags its like they worship the flag the trnc is wrapped in 10000's of turk flags..

its really not that bad in the south

but we should have one flag to represent cyprus not two

i dont how anyone else feels but if it where up to me we would of got rid of the greece flags ages ago

You are immune to the Greek flags in the south just as we are to ones in the north, so your agreeing to get rid of them all if a solution were found is a sign that we would think about also getting rid of the Turkish flag.

The only place the Greek Flag is displayed is on privately owned businesses such as beach side resorts and hotels. It is amongst flags of many other nations, so I don't think it is easy to ban another nation's flag.

The Greek Flag is not displayed on Government buildings. Only the RoC and EU flag are.

Will the TCs draw the line here? Or will they also demand we remove any memorials to our fallen (including the heroic Gregory Afxentiou or the poetic and romantic Evagoras Pallikaridi) and drop the name of Makarios Avenue as well.

I don't see a huge problem for all of this, as long as there is a workable solution. But why should people be forced to wipe out an important part of our history and the memory of those that sacrificed everything for our own existence as a liberated nation? :?

Are we going to be a democratic nation, or will the people be suppressed? :?

On the subject of symbols, here is how Turkey got the symbol on their flag.

The bottom line is that the official flag of RoCy plays second fiddle to the Greek Flag in the south (and I'm referring to the citizenry, not the Government), and that the TRNC flag flies in the north alongside the Turkish Flag. Of course the UN flag flies along the border, the Union Flag and the RAF Ensign fly in the SBA's, and (mainly to rub it in to the Turkish Cypriots) the EU flag is flying prominently. Looks like Cyprus is a land of flags...

Is this all stuff your "friends" told you?

Where is the city called Constantinople? While you are at it, explain the Israilies where Palastine is. We are all hungry for knowledge.
