Illegal Turkish Cypriot “Universities”

http://www.mfa.gov.cy/mfa/mfa2006.nsf/A ... enDocument

Moreover, these “universities” use as their premises illegally usurped properties belonging to Greek Cypriot forcibly displaced persons, in violation of their rights and without their consent. It should be reminded that the legitimate Greek Cypriot owners of the said properties were forced to flee from their ancestral homes in the wake of the Turkish invasion of 1974 and the military occupation of 36.4 percent of the territory of the Republic of Cyprus and they have been prevented since then to return thereto. The “Eastern Mediterranean University” situated in the occupied city of Ammochostos (Famagusta), the “American University of Cyprus” in Kyrenia, the “European University of Lefke” and the “Cyprus International University” in the occupied part of Nicosia, are such cases of illegal use of Greek Cypriot properties.

That's the one which has opened ....

Maybe someone in authority should be informed about this grave error.

The Mayor of Canterbury: [email protected]

There is a spelling mistake there, it should read: Americunt University.

The circumstances in which Britain relinquished its sovereignty over Cyprus in 1960 should be born in mind. The British Government had previously explicitly recognized that there were two national communities sharing the island and that ''any exercise of self -determination should be effected in such manner that the Turkish Cypriot community,no less than the Greek Cypriot community, shall, in the special circumstances of Cyprus,be given freedom to decide for themselves their future''526 parl.DEP.,H.C.(5th ser.) 1267-68(1956).Indeed in order to preserve the rights of Turkish Cypriots,The British Government stood ready to ''include partition among the eventual options''Id.

Eventually,an international solution was developed between Britain,Greece,Turkey and representatives of GC and TC communities. In the international agreements concluded,Britain effectively agreed to relinquish sovereignty over Cyprus in favour of two communities in exchange for their commitment to from a single government along agreed constitutional lines.Greece,Turkey joined Britain in agreeing to guarantee the constitutional structure of the new republic of Cyprus.Upon the signing of these international agreements and passage of the Cyprus act, sovereignty over Cyprus was in effect transferred from Britain to GC and TC Communities and through them to ROC as constituted under the Constitution of 1960.
The compelling evidence that the 2 Cypriot Communities were an essential link in conferring sovereignty on the ROC is provided by the fact that all basic documents from 59-1960 were signed or initialled by representatives of the 2 Cypriot Communities on behalf of their respective Communities.

The constitution of 60 was totally and inseparably founded upon the existence and poltical partnership of Greek and Turkish Communities in Cyprus. They were treated as equal in every way except in size.

my letter will continue ........... lets see the others..............

Rubbish! 30% (TC) of the House of Representatives vs 70% (GC) is not "equal in every way"!

The Turkish Cypriots do a fine job at reducing themselves… you don’t need the GCs for that.
