I find NAIPs very useful as it allows me to submit Flight Plans and Flight Notes to Air Services Australia (Air Traffic Control) and it also allows me to obtain weather briefings and NOTAMS and save them to my phone.

My mate in Sydney (colleague) will tell me how to get my Jeppessen Charts uploaded as well. That is all I want, just things I will use, then perhaps some music to listen to on long commercial legs or airport terminals.

I have a few other apps such as Bloomberg stock market reports, surf report and some news and that's it.

Skype is also useful.

I also jail-broke my phone, went to Cydia, and then thought that Itunes really does provide all I need (not much really), and so I thought it was prudent to un-jailbreak my phone, also because my computer was picking up my phone as jail-broken and was demanding a factory reset.

I have no idea why you guys would even bother with jailbreak to be honest...

Oh, one more thing.

Sometimes I receive some email with attachments (usually some joke emails) and am unable to open those files (video, pdf or word).

How do you get around this? I thought about researching the internet, but I don't have enough time for that and probably because it is not that important compared to other priorities at the moment.

theres a lot of stuff you can do with a jailbroken iphone. Especially when it comes to apps you get to try them for free and even if your the type who feels guilty he buys it. I have apps that would cost me at least 250 dollars in itunes and when jailbroken it would cost me 0. Is it worth it? I think yes!

for PDF files try the PDFreader.

My favourite program is Jaadu cause I connect remotely to my computer when I am not home :)

Thanks for the tip.

Jaadu sounds interesting. Might look into that one.

How do you play video file attachments?

I think I might not bother with jailbreaking as I think I have what I need anyway.

I only bought one app, and it cost me $10AUD and I only spent this because the app was useful for work (NAIPs). So I don't think I am big spender here anyway.

You cant play any other video formats. Thats how it is. If you have problems just use this program to convert

http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPhone-3G/

its free and easy to use.

Thanks FD.

So basically I have to download that program onto my pc and convert files to MP4. I don't see the point of that since I might as well just view the video attachment on my pc instead of converting it to view on IPhone.

Itunes should have had an app where video files could be converting on the phone itself so that video files can be converted and viewed in an easy and efficient manner that is not time consuming...

on the iphone? dont think that will be a good idea.

1st Converting something takes a huge amount of cpu power and the phone doesnt have that much

2nd it will burn the phone :P

3rd the battery wont be enough

I am usually a guy who does long trips 2-3 hours 3 times a week so its pretty usefull to convert my movies into that and watch them on the road
