FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE 02.DEC.09
A new ferry route between Israel and north Cyprus, designed to bring at least 100,000 Israelis to the occupied areas every year, is planning to launch next month.
Turkish Cypriot daily Havadis newspaper quotes Cafer Curcafer, a wealthy local businessman and chairman of the “Turkish Cypriot Building Contractors’ Union” saying the ferry services will run between Haifa and occupied Famagusta.
According to Curcafer a vessel named “Med Dream” has just arrived from Spain and has a capacity of 650 people.
Curcafer says the ferry services will take place three times a week, with a launch date of the end of January or at the beginning of February.
The company hopes to make profits of 300 million dollars per year.
