Paphos airport , What a ripp off !

Feel free to talk about anything that you want.

There is no duty free sales when flying from Cyprus to UK. Both in the EU.

I agree the tea and coffee is expensive here - and it's the same price if you don't want the milk and sugar mentioned earlier! Then you are paying for just a teabag and hot water!

It is preposterous that the two airports of Cyprus should be so actively engaged in ripping people off.
Now , Cyprus happens to be my country of birth and may I also add the country where later than ..sooner I shall be laid to rest ...
To witness such daylight robberies taking place by some Cypriot greedy bastard gets my blood boiling . Fuck me if Im going to just accept it , I intend to highlight the extortionate prices charged at these airports by unscrupulous sods and expose them. I shall soon be retiring and I'm not just going to be a hazopappou. These "mavragorites" will have Milti to deal with.!
As for my dear friend ... O suggesting that we should take a thermos , may I just say , true to form , she is on another planet !!
I think its disgusting that a cup of tea should cost half of the minimum wage per hour in the UK and since Cyprus DEPENDS EXCLUSIVELY on tourism from the UK , THE GOVERNMENT OUGHT TO ACT TO PROTECT THE GOOSE THAT LAYS THE GOLDEN EGG !

LCA cafe prices have always been hideous, even in days when sterling was healthy. Not a new situation.

It's plain and simple profiteering at the expence of captive travellers.

The prices at LHR used to be similarly outrageous (but nowhere near the LCA level) but people have moaned and complained like buggery and in recent years they have dropped to reasonable levels.

Cappuccino/ Latte at Sydney airport $2 =1.20 Euros

Espresso: 1 Euro

Tea: nobody drinks tea anymore except pommy Backpackers and they bring there own tea bags & the shielas bring their own milk. Sydney airport looses money from these customers.

Cypriot airports need food courts with major chains - one of the cofounders of the Coffee Club was a Kypreo.

No Duty free sales between EU destinations? That sucks I make the price of my ticket flying from Oz to NZ when I visit Expats mum on the savings through Duty Free.

Our tourist industry heavily relies on the Brits taking their holiday in Cyprus. I remember seeing the figure of 63% as being representative of the British contribution to the industry. Clearly tourism is of the utmost financial importance to the Cypriot economy. Perhaps someone can access the appropriate figures showing the contribution of tourism to the economy.
Many Cypriots readily dismiss the importance of the British contribution to the economy , not out a valid financial argument but based on their personal antipathy towards the Brits.
The ridiculously outrages prices at the Cypriot airports are not only exploiting " captive" travellers but are also giving the impression that the Cypriots are rip off merchants !!
Some regulatory procedures are needed in order to curtail the excesses on pricing.
It is not a question whether one can afford 3.50 euros for a coffee but whether 3.50 for a cup is appropriate and may I say reasonable.

I agree and the damage is compounded if they are then ripped off with a taxi fare from the airport.

I have been told that next year is going to be a very hard year for Cyprus tourism. Alot harder than this one.

The difference isn't just a few pence its a massive amount.
Its time that the authorities took some action to stop these con merchants ripping people off.
On my way back I bought from Paphos duty.....free , pull the other one its got bells !! for two of my girls at work a perfume each costing 50.60 euros each.
On the BA plane same perfume £30 ie 33 euros.
The damage that these greedy bastards are doing to our tourist industry is massive and the repercussions will be huge in the future.
I say , stop these daylight bloody robbers. Can you believe a tea bag a bit of water and a little milk at over £2.50 !!!

We have to financially support the, nearby, Hellenic airforce base!!!
