Well, I am back from my jollies.
Weather was fantastic, really good. Every day was blue skies and only a few clouds, spot-on. Spent a few days on the beach chilling and looking out to see and thinking about one or two things.
Went to Troodos and Mount Olympus and it was bloody freezing. One foot out of the hire car and one foot quickly back in! We also went to Polis and continued driving past Argaka and then the mountains. We haven't been up there before and it was breathtaking at parts.
The new airport is nice (Paphos) and a big improvement on the old one. It looks very cosmo! Very modern, easy to get round and quite spacious. I missed the outside area which was in the old one.
Prices! Didn't find it too bad to be honest. Yeah, we accept the £/Euro thing doesn't help but things weren't too bad. Some shops/restaurants too the biscuit with prices advertised but you just move on! We went to Polis for the day and had lunch in one of the bars/cafes there. The same place has a restuarant too, very nice BUT they wanted 22 Euro for Chicken Korma! That was for one person and christ knows if it included rice but either way it was quite entertaining! Their whole price list for the restaurant was quite expensive throughout but lunch/cafe bar was acceptable.
Buysell. Where have they gone@ Usually I see their signs everywhere but I didn't see them this time. In Pissouri they have moved also. I think the whole real estate thing has 'calmed' down since my last visit.
There have been a few casualties this year on the restaurant front in Paphos. The Brasilian appears to have gone and a couple others along the front appear to have closed down, or they could have just shut down for the winter.
....Cypriot drivers - still the worst in the world
