How can it possibly work?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

How can it possibly work?

Postby Oracle » Fri Nov 27, 2009 9:34 pm

Turkey is adamant it does not wish to give up occupation of Cyprus and expects to be allowed into the EU still implementing GC-specific, racist segregation.

If Turkey was allowed to enter the EU without withdrawing its troops from northern Cyprus ... what would be the logistics of day to day movements around the now expanded EU?

Would there be a corner of Cyprus that would forever be unavailable to GCs? Available to Poles, French, Maltese etc ... but not GCs ... and by extension presumably Greeks from Greece.

How would this work? :? How could the principles of the EU function under such conditions?

Is this an uni entrance exam or what? Let me solve the equation for you. Türkiye won't enter EU and KKTC and Türkiye will unite. If for a second you thought you will take North Cyprus back on the table without giving anything in return, you are terribly mistaken Lady Gaga.

What equation? I think you've failed!

What is it you want in return?

Do you seriously think Turkey can annexe a bit of the EU if it is told it cannot become a member?

Just try it because, frankly, the negotiations have gone on long enough ....

Look, just keep things seperated. True, there will have to be some territorial cessions from the north, plus compensation money from Turkey and TRNC, but this way, there will be no problems with inter-ethnic strife, and we'll all live hapilly ever after.

Interesting offer, especially when combined with Britain's generous offer to give up their sovereign bases. How about, after the occupied areas are returned, all TCs unwilling to abide by EU law live seperately in the red areas shown in the map below? We'll build a huge wall around you, with barbed wire to ensure safety and prevent strife. Hell, we'll even throw in a load of prison guards so we can live happily ever after.

No, I think it makes sense to imprison people who are unwilling to abide by the law.

Sorry, no can do because the ENTIRE territory of Cyprus belongs to the RoC and there's NOTHING anyone can do to change that. Those trying to pervert things aren’t Cypriots anyway…

Okay, then you then should believe that every single EOKA member should have been imprisoned for their attacks on Brits and Turks. After all, it was against the law then....
