The bash patriots in reality hate Cyprus

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Postby Mikiko » Sun Nov 29, 2009 3:43 pm

The Bash patriots are always stuck to their Hellenistic Megalo Ideals while they claim that they are serving the Cyprus interest . They are callling anyone with a different opinion a Turk or a traitor . They can not tolerate different views like in a proper democracy . And the irony of all,is that they claim democracy in every single speech they make. It is this type of Democracy that they like to see in a united island - where someone is punished just for having a different opinion .

Some people forget that the Annan Plan has been supported not only by Greece but by 2 ex presidents back then.

What people like you do not realize is the Bananiots are the people that can get more out of a solution than you hard hrads will ever achieve, if the majority of GC thought like Bananiot I a TC and many more would accept a unitary state with proportional representation as we would trust minds like Bananiot to act on behalf and for the benefit of all "Cypriots". With you people the only way we feel secure is with a BBF and plenty of safeguards and guarantees, now do you understand where you lose the plot and will never convince TCs to unite.

I'm confused. Please can you explain what Bananiot has said to convince you to accept a unitary state? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Bananiot a firm proponent of the Annan proposal? Which was a two-state solution, with plenty of safeguards and guarantees?

We once had the ultimate Bananiot as President, Vassiliou.. he bent over backwards and accepted things that today are unacceptable for GCs. He was and still is the biggest Turk lover you can think of.. so why was there no solution then?

The fact is that whenever we give 1, Turkey demands 10.. and it is this approach that has led all the way to the Annan Plan

As I said many times over, anyone who is genuinely interested in a solution should be coming up with ideas for changes that would make the Annan plan acceptable to GCs, while not altering the BBF basis (which I believe on its own makes it acceptable to TCs)

Well, Malapapa! A statement like this shows that you're a person of integrity. I'm impressed.

What constitutes a “solution” is the crux of the lack of a solution.

What dont you understand? I would a unitary state with proportional representation, isnt this the GCs ulitmate dream? but this is only possible due to the way Bananiot gives me the confidence to place my future in his hands, this appears to be what you are having problems understanding. Your viewpoint generates the opposite stance and makes me want extra security and guarantees under a BBF.

Exactly his approach allows me the understand that he even willing to accept the AP to move forward and unite with me, not expressing that he wants to dominate but wants to share...this is a very important point, his acceptence of the AP makes me want to return the trsut by accepting a unitary as long as people are open minded and accepting of TCs as part of the fabric of a new united Cyprus where we can trust each other 100% knowing that one side will nto stab the other in the back at the first opportunity. I trust Bananiot with my future in a unitary state but I do not trust you take a few minutes to ponder why?

ALl I can say is bring back Vassiliou, we need open minded leaders..its time to take the bull by the horns and compromise if we want to move forward but obviously neither side really wants to otherwise it would have been solved by now.

The Annan proposal was not for a unitary state and had it been accepted we wouldn't be in a position to move towards a proper unitary state, even if we wanted to. The mechanisms weren't in place to allow for this; but to cement division along ethnic lines.

And the insistence of having Turkey's continued intervention rights also ensured one side would have the opportunity to stab the other in the back at the first opportunity.

Trust is a two-way street Viewpoint. You may not trust me but the problem is, the feeling is mutual.

You still dont get it do you, if Bananiot can show strength of character to accept the AP for a solution I am willing to accept a unitary state in return because his open mindedness warrants such flexiblity I have no qualms with placing my future in his hands, your approach doesnt warrant the same response only fuels the mutual mistrust and the need for BBF with plenty of safeguards and guarantees. Now do you get it?
