European MEPs Condemn Turkey for Lack of Progress

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

European MEPs Condemn Turkey for Lack of Progress

Postby bill cobbett » Thu Nov 26, 2009 7:49 pm

European MEPs condemned Turkey yesterday for lack of progress in normalising relations with CY and making good on its promise to open ports and airspace.

From .... http://www.euractiv.com/en/enlargement/ ... cle-187707 ....

"On Turkey, the draft says that the country has made "some progress towards meeting the Copenhagen political criteria". Regrets are expressed as to limited progress made in the area of freedom of expression and freedom of religion. Also, MEPs "deplore" the continued non-fulfilment of commitments stemming from the Additional Protocol to the EC-Turkey Association Agreement (the opening of Turkish ports and airports to Cyprus)."

(that word "deplore" above is remarkably strong)

Spot on mate/matess.

Have rarely seen such a strong word used. .... and directed towards a "country" that wants so desperately to be bailed out of bankruptcy by EU membership.

It's strong, really strong.

Yes ... strong, clear, unambiguous words (deplore and condemn) are required when dealing with the Turks ... Why even yesterday, Turk-wanabee "vaughawilliams" was having trouble with the "verbs" used by the UN

Anyway, my reason for being here is to point you in the direction of grokked's somewhat misplaced (General Chat) thread which has the video to the EU-enlargement meeting ....

What do I know or care about this or any other eastern basket case? If you look hard enough, like Turkey is, I'm sure you'll find it.

Are these your Trakyan cousins?

Don't fret about what the EU will do, viewpoint. You've got more immediate problems with Turkey, cutting your wages in half.
