It's truly pointless to argue with someone like u. There is no where on the Internet or in books that says the ancient Egyptians before the 32nd were Greek. This is a fact! Accept it!

maya01 wrote:You can't actually believe that all Egyptians were Mediterranean. The last dynasty was Ptolemaic (Greek), but this was in a long line of 31 other dynasties that weren't. Also Cleopatra's sister's body was found and she was part black. Cleopatra was the only person in her entire dynasty that actually learnt the Egyptian language. Just because there was a Greco/Roman ruling period that doesn't mean the local population of people were of this race. Ammianus Marcellinus (325/330-after 391) was a Greco-Roman historian said that "the men of Egypt are mostly brown and black with a skinny and desiccated look". Greek historian Herodotus said Egyptians had "black skins and kinky hair". Aristotle stated that the hair of Egyptians was curlier than that of other nations.

This is where the confusion of 'ethnicity' of the Egyptions lie. The peoples of ancient Egypt habited the regions from the delta on the med far south to Nubia and the Sudan. It encompassed many types of people in the various 'Kingdoms' of upper Egypt and the lower. The last I read of them, were that they were Negroid up till the Ptolemaic dynasties. Pity we cannot tell from their pictograms. I must renew my investigations. Its difficult to keep up with these theories. At least good old Kleo was Greek, that we are sure of.

I thought that Cleopatra was Greek too, but I read several recent reports such as this: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/also_in_the_news/7945333.stm and http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scot ... 958819.stm. Who knows?

I remember people trying to sell me 'Genuine fakes' in Turkey. Not that I a going against the evidence. Yes, I had heard that too (about Arsinoe).

As Turkish as the Turkish Sultans I suppose. (Their mothers were always non-Turks).

The Copts are the decendents of the ancient Egyptians, the word Copt is derived from the Greek word Aigyptos, which was, in turn, derived from "Hikaptah", one of the names for Memphis, the first capital of Ancient Egypt. The modern use of the term "Coptic" describes Egyptian Christians, as well as the last stage of the ancient Egyptian language script. Also, it describes the distinctive art and architecture that developed as an early expression of the new faith.

Dr Zahi Hawass talks about Race, Colour and Symbolism of the Ancient Egyptians.

CAIRO (AFP) — Egyptian antiquities supremo Zahi Hawass insisted Tuesday that Tutankhamun was not black despite calls by US black activists to recognise the boy king's dark skin colour.

"Tutankhamun was not black, and the portrayal of ancient Egyptian civilisation as black has no element of truth to it," Hawass told reporters.

"Egyptians are not Arabs and are not Africans despite the fact that Egypt is in Africa," he said, quoted by the official MENA news agency.

Hawass said he was responding to several demonstrations in Philadelphia after a lecture he gave there on September 6 where he defended his theory.

Protestors also claimed images of King Tut were altered to show him with lighter skin at the "Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs" exhibit which leaves Philadelphia for London on September 30.

The exhibition sparked an uproar when it kicked off in Los Angeles in June 2005 when black activists demanded that a bust of the boy king be removed because the statue portrays him as white.

The face of the legendary pharaoh, who died around 3,300 years ago at the age of just 19, was reconstructed in 2005 through images collected through CAT scans of his mummy.

The boy king's intact tomb caused an international sensation when it was discovered by Briton Howard Carter in 1922 near Luxor in southern Egypt.

Coon
Modern Copts, who probably represent the ancient Egyptian type more faithfully than the Moslem population, have diverged from the earlier types only in a reduction of the skull length from about 183 mm. to 177 mm. Therefore, evolutionary change in Egypt consisted entirely of a slight reduction of head length, and in places of a lengthening of the face, and a narrowing of the nose; but the change has not been notable. Changes in physical type in any part of Europe within the last five hundred years have been much greater than in Egypt during five thousand.
