Remember Egypt used to be part of the Greco/Roman world. The ancient Egyptians were Mediterranean, a sub race of the Caucasian race. The Mediterranean race exists all over Europe.

You can't actually believe that all Egyptians were Mediterranean. The last dynasty was Ptolemaic (Greek), but this was in a long line of 31 other dynasties that weren't. Also Cleopatra's sister's body was found and she was part black. Cleopatra was the only person in her entire dynasty that actually learnt the Egyptian language. Just because there was a Greco/Roman ruling period that doesn't mean the local population of people were of this race. Ammianus Marcellinus (325/330-after 391) was a Greco-Roman historian said that "the men of Egypt are mostly brown and black with a skinny and desiccated look". Greek historian Herodotus said Egyptians had "black skins and kinky hair". Aristotle stated that the hair of Egyptians was curlier than that of other nations.

Ha ha, bloody Afrocentric.

For the people of Colchis are evidently Egyptian, and this I perceived for myself before I heard it from others. So when I had come to consider the matter I asked them both; and the Colchians had remembrance of the Egyptians more than the Egyptians of the Colchians; but the Egyptians said they believed that the Colchians were a portion of the army of Sesostris. That this was so I conjectured myself not only because they are dark-skinned and have curly hair (this of itself amounts to nothing, for there are other races which are so).

You can't deny that the Egyptians are a halfway house between Africans and Europeans and further north, the Greeks are a halfway house between Egyptians and Scandinavians. This continuum, with subtle gradations of morphological features, traces our migration out of Africa.

The Greeks in Egypt tended not to mix (matrimonially) with the locals. As you say, Cleopatra was the first of the Ptolemies to even learn Egyptian. But you can extrapolate that several thousand years before that historical period (maybe 50,000) the people who travelled towards Greece and the rest of Europe would have looked more like the Egyptians do today, until they lost their environmentally necessary darker skins and curly hair, whilst reaching cooler climes.

No, I just seek the truth. You, yialousa1971, just can't stand the idea that not all Egyptians were white. They weren't!!!!! What about the regular Egyptians? Do u think that they were Greek too? I have to agree with Oracle's post that Egyptians were a mixed race of European and African. Some probably were only African. This is why there are so many shades of their skin colour. The Ptolemies were suppose to be Greek. So what? That doesn't magically turn the general (real) populace into their race! For example if aliens came to earth and rule for 300 yrs, do humans suddenly turn into being aliens because their rulers are aliens? NO[/list]

Anyone who engages in a debate with someone who claims that Egyptians are Caucasian should have his head examined.

Yaloser, stick to what you do best like picking your nose and flicking it on your screen to see if you can hit me!
