Newcastle boss Graeme Souness has confirmed the capture of 24-year-old Turkey international Emre Belozoglu from Inter Milan.
The left-sided midfielder has signed a five-year deal with the Magpies and becomes the second summer arrival at St James' Park following Scott Parker's £6.5m move from Chelsea.
Souness told Sky Sports: "We have done that deal (Emre) and I am absolutely delighted with that. I think he will be a really good player in the English Premiership."
Emre also spoke of his delight at joining Newcastle on the club's official website. He said: "I am very happy to have signed for Newcastle United because they are one of the biggest clubs in England.
"This is a very big club and I am so excited about the prospect of playing in the Premiership. It is a new challenge and one I am looking forward to very much.
"I would like to thank the manager Graeme Souness and chairman Freddy Shepherd for having the trust in me to bring me to Newcastle.
"Now I will give my very best for Newcastle and try to bring success to the club."
Emre last visited St James' Park when playing for Inter in a Champions League encounter during the 2002-03 season, which the Serie A giants won 4-1
Emre added: "I remember that night very well. St. James' Park is a fantastic stadium and the fans make a wonderful atmosphere inside the ground.
"I'm looking forward to playing there many times as a Newcastle player now."
The Toon boss also expressed his delight after midfielder Kieron Dyer agreed a new four-year contract.
"He (Dyer) has signed a new deal", Souness continued. "I am delighted about that. Kieron is another one who I feel is a top player.
"I would like him to score more goals and we are going to try to find a position for him next year in a system that suits him because he is a player you can build the team around. He is that good."
Good player...saw him run the show at Highbury when Inter beat us 3-0...although i've seen him go missing in a lot of games for Inter to.
