Britain to declare war on Turkey?

How can we solve it? (keep it civilized)

Everybody, watch out, the Italians, the French and the Greeks are coming after us. Full Chastity belts on for personal protection. Double locked at the double.

I'm amazed you're amazed.

The Romans gave Judea sanitation, medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh-water system and public health; but the Judeans still hated them. Why? Because they neglected to give Judea one little thing its people craved for: freedom. Likewise the Brits in Cyprus. And no, the 1960 constitution wasn't freedom; which is why we are where we are.

Mate, why don't you go and discuss the latest Iraq War enquiry on some British forum and stop patronising Cypriots on theirs?

I couldn't have put it better myself.

This topic really should be in the joke section. It's obvious that the European Union has no intentions of interfearing with Turkey. People need to become a little realistic and realise that it's only up to us to solve our problems.

This thread is actually about Britain's treaty obligations towards Cyprus, which admittedly, have become a joke. But demands that Britain meets her obligations aren't and should perhaps be tested in an international court.

And I agree, it is up to Cypriots to solve their own problems; which is why both Turkey and Britain should relinquish their unwelcome, anachronistic military bases, and get the hell out!

The fact is World could not give fig about Cyprus or the Cyprus problem.

Strongly agree with that.

Think of the cornerstone of the furtherment the UK provided but instead everyone is a whipping boy for the GCs, blame everyone else but yourselves. Stop dragging your heels at the negotiating table and find the compromise that can work for the 2 communities instead of baying for the blood of others to further your uncompromising thirst for domination.

Sadly agree with that and - Oracle - don't hold your breath while you are waiting for the outcome you imagine.[/quote]

You seem like one of those typical boring Brits who can’t see past their snotty nose that the British Empire made far more enemies than friends despite all the hype they tell you in history class in the British education system of bollox!

Your forefathers were marauders who went on crusades around the world to impose their will on others by spreading death & destruction, followed by plunder so I wouldn’t brag too much if I were you…

Stop dragging your heels at the negotiating table and find the compromise that can work for the 2 communities instead of baying for the blood of others to further your uncompromising thirst for domination.

The Greek Cypriot domination comes NATURALLY for many reasons that a twelve year old could’ve easily figured out including… the GCs being the overwhelming majority, their indigenousness, their financial prosperity, their business acumen, and more.

As I said many times, it’s not in the Turkish Cypriot’s interests to try and compete with the Greek Cypriots as a community because they will lose every time but rather as CITIZENS… but don’t count on their intelligence to figure out such things!
