MASS DEMONSTRATION BY UNIONS

Postby halil » Mon Nov 23, 2009 7:03 pm

Police used tear gas to disperse protestors who gathered in front of the TRNC parliament.

It came as a mass demonstration was held by 28 trade unions during a parliamentary session on a draft legislation concerning the rearrangement of salaries and other payments of Public Sector Employees.

clamor occurred between police forces and the protestors when protestors wanted to walk in front of the Parliament and were blocked by the police.

17 protestors were arrested during the unrest.

Angry protestors then marched to the police headquarters to demand the release of their companions.

Separately, some trade unions also went on strike at various workplaces, calling for the withdrawal of the draft law.

“DRAFT LAW WILL APPLY TO ONLY THOSE TO BE NEWLY EMPLOYED IN THE PUBLIC SECTOR”

Finance Minister Ersin Tatar has responded to trade unions which protest the draft legislation on wages and employee rights of public workers, by stressing that the new rules to come into force will only apply to those to be newly employed in the public sector.

“Our goal in introducing this law is to establish a balance between the public and private sectors”, Mr. Tatar said.

Speaking on a BRT program, the Minister explained that the draft law will make a long-term contribution to the public finance.

He said heavy reactions staged against the draft law are not right, as the current situation within the public sector can’t be maintained.

He added that those actions are being politically motivated.

Reminding of the fact that the TRNC government realizes its obligations with financial resources provided by Turkey, Ersin Tatar however rejected the claim of an ‘imposed package’ and said, Turkey is only providing suggestions for the implementation of law.

And that's the end of any "old" workers in the public sector as they will be replaced by the "young" as cheap labourers. I would advice all "old" workers not to call in sick to work, even if they are sick, or come back late from lunch breaks, or too many breaks for taking a piss. Any excuse to get rid of them will be used. Be careful Halil. You can't take two hour lunch breaks anymore. You will be watched.!

I think you had better add them to the missing persons list, you ain't gonna seem them again.

Turkey would have no qualms to make them disappear no questions asked

These kind of reports make me laugh, crooks against crooks, no loyalty ha ha .

Halil, keep on fighting but stay within the law, it's the only thing UBP and Turkey understands. When you have 60 thousand marching, they will soon shit themselves like last time. It would be very nice, if the workers down south showed a bit of solidarity. Lets wait and see.

Pzardon, do you mean the same solidarity you showed when the British / coupist / Turkey were taking our Island???

You have a damn cheek Yfred. Same with your land, you bleat about it constantly how the RoC has stolen your land and you have kochan, yet you redicule the 200,000 GCs who have Kochans and you / your lot hold and sold them on.

Double bloody cheek, don't you agree???

Not at all, my land has been stolen by a legal recognized government. GC's has been stolen by nobody, as TRNC does not exist. There is a huge difference. But don't you worry, your taxes will pay form the rent due with interest and you will return them eshek gibi.

Don't worry YFred we all knowing what we are doing .

When time comes we can marched trough the south as well . no One can stop us taking from our rights .

We don't need B25 help Yfred . Also he can not get our rights Yfred . If he dares he can get his lessons too from TC's working class.

we can easily get together Yfred as i said CTP failed to take by side of the working class he got his lessons now UBP will get his turn too ....

we can easily tackle down every party if their against the TC's will .
